Wet Sounds XS-808s and XS-650
Hey guys,
I ended up picking up a couple sets of the XS-808s and XS-650s. I was planning on running them at 2 ohms on a syn 4... Is 100WRMS going to be enough? Anybody else running more power to them? Thanks |
i would not hesitate one bit to drive the 808 in-boat with a Syn-4 as you are proposing.
|
Thanks Mike,
I was worried 100 WRMS wouldn't be enough for the 8" driver... |
Stuff like this confuses me. If you dont have tower speakers i understand powering your in-boats. But if you do, whats the point? Tower speakers are typically loud enough for everybody on e lake to hear clearly, why do the ppl in the boat need powered speakers? Im just curious and it isnt directed at anybody in particular.

Ben it is not about volume it is about sound quality. With the system set up properly you can control the volume of the in-boat speakers separate from the tower speakers
|
Through the ws 420 or just wiring towers to rear and in boats to front and fading through the headunit. Idk, i have infinity in-boats with just headunit power to them and they sound fine at any volum that is worth listening to.
To each their own i suppose |

Try amplifying your inboats. It's night and day. More of a full sound. More mid bass punch. Your inboats will really come alive. |
I have 808s and 650s and while 100w will make them sound okay if you really want to get the most out of them put 200w to each. I have my 808s run off a syn 2 with 200w going to each. I then have 6 xs 650s running of 2 channels of an SD6 so the 6 of them share 1170w so 195w a piece. The sound is AMAZING. At a minimum I would run your 650s off the syn 4 you have and get another amp for your 808s if you want to get the most out of your system.

That is the response I was looking for. I have a Syn 4, and I guess if i picked up a Syn 2 or Arc KS300.2 that would power the 650s with 100WRMS and 808s with 175WRMS. This option will run me around $350. I was thinking about going for either the SD line or Possibly the Rockford T1000/800-4ad but then I am stuck with a Syn 4 amp and have to buy an expensive D class amp. This option will run me around $550-700.. Thanks for the help...now decisions lol.. |
I realized mine aren't getting quite what i said. I had originally just taken my extra 2 channels of 585w and just divided by 6. TigeMike pointed out to me this is basically impossible so I asked my installer what he did. So my bow is wired in 4 ohm stereo so each bow xs 650 gets 185w a piece. The cabin 650s are wired in parrallel at 2ohms and thus get 145w a piece. Regardless my interior is crazy loud and clear.
