Last year, unless the water was choppy, a rider had to have at least two 720s off the wake to win a tour stop. I don't think parks has even done a 720 off the wake in contest, so unless the water is choppy, he will not get a PWT first place this year.

tyboarder03 03-25-2007 10:02 PM

interesting theory

malibuboarder75 03-25-2007 10:07 PM

Yea, I am sure he will have trouble winning.

tyboarder03 03-25-2007 10:09 PM

Hes looking to be in much better shape from his add in the most recent WBM... hope we see the old parks again. If we do M S, you'll be eating your words.

tonka 03-25-2007 10:20 PM

That's my point. The old Parks wasn't riding at todays level with back to back 720s w2w.

tyboarder03 03-25-2007 10:36 PM

You be wrong He didn't do a lot of tricks back when he was winning the PWT stops... thats because he didn't have to
You still trying to tell me parks cant do a 720? Have you ever seen parks ride?!?!?!?! Ever? watch any video he's ever been in and try to tell me that he's got a deep bag of tricks and we prolly havent seen a lot of it. So Im just waiting to see him blow everyone away one last time. BTW is the Vandall gonna be riding any stops this year?

blxboarder 03-25-2007 11:28 PM

You be wrong? bahahahaha

tyboarder03 03-25-2007 11:48 PM

Oh and just to clarify I think it'd be more accurate to assume back to back 9's are needed to take most stops nowadays.

bhog 03-26-2007 6:01 AM

I dont think parks will have ANY trouble throwing 7's w2w. I think he will have a BIG come back this year. He has been hurt and off the water, so he wants it back bad!

wkbrdr 03-26-2007 6:32 AM

"must ride better to win" doesn't everyone have to do that to win?

byrd 03-26-2007 7:05 AM

He has been working hard, give the man a break. Getting back into it after the injuries he had last year, takes time. I dont care how many wins he gets, just to see him back on the water is good enough for me.

jarrod 03-26-2007 7:20 AM

Yea I don't think 2 7s will do it. Better throw a Mobe 5 on top of that.

Don't count Parks out just because he hasn't cleaned house in a few years. Remember how Murray came back last year? He was out of the scene and came back as a serious contender.

(Message edited by jarrod on March 26, 2007)

wakeman7 03-26-2007 7:32 AM

Contests are not everything

parks is a legend and an awsome rider because of the past and nothing could change that.

dekay 03-26-2007 7:59 AM

Parks doesn't have to compete and if he does he will KILL it, which doesn't mean he'll win. Either way, everyone will still love him.

andy_nintzel 03-26-2007 8:40 AM

Check out the www.Alliancewake.com article that "team Rehab" is back in affect.

ponte_06_x2 03-26-2007 8:46 AM

yea. i love it when people on espn and just regular people say that someone or some team has to play good to win . NO WAY.

eternalshadow 03-27-2007 8:50 AM

I remember watching a contest a good few years back, and it was after the double up on the way back to the dock and Parks throws down a whirly 7 w2w. Sure it didn't count but it's sure something to put a chip in your theory.

premierwake136 03-27-2007 5:49 PM

dont worry parks will win this year
after all he is riding for ronix
the best company out there

driving 03-27-2007 6:45 PM

To be honest I don't even really think anyone cares if Parks wins or not, they just want to see him back on the water and having fun. Shaun had a great year last year, but never won any contests, but one thing I will say for sure, is that every time he took to the water people were watching and cheering. Not because they neccesarily wanted to see him win, but because they like, respect, and identify with him as a rider and a person. I think Parks is definitely that same type of guy. I'm pumped to see him ride again this year, and whether or not he makes a single podium I know I am going to see some great riding, and watch someone who has had a huge impact on the sport back on the water and having fun.

gti2lo 03-27-2007 6:54 PM

I have to agree with Wakeman,Travis and Will, it's great that he's back out having fun, showing the fans a good time! He is one of the "fathers" of the sport and the respect he gets is huge.

Riding for Ronix, Hyperlite, Liquid Force, doesn't make you a better rider or make you win anything... being a team rider certainly does help in the pocket book and is great marketing exposure for the companies.

wakedad33 03-27-2007 7:06 PM

Travis is right on, last year in Atlanta when Shaun (15 seed) took down Soven (2 seed) was loudest cheering section I have ever heard on the PWT, Shaun took a bad crash after that but it was cool to see the the respect the fans showed him, I know I was cheering for him (he killed it by the way) Parks should get the same kind of love.

ponyh8r 03-27-2007 7:18 PM

I think Parks is gonna be just like Jordan or George Foreman. He has the skills and I bet he will throw it down.

poser007 03-27-2007 7:41 PM

Just curious, how old is Parks? Im assuming around 26ish?

greenpinky 03-27-2007 8:06 PM

He's 25.

I agree with what Randy was saying, and I'd wager a guess that Parks will receive an even bigger reception than Shaun. Even the non wakeboarders seem to know who Parks is, more than anyone else. Nothing against Shaun, but more just seem to know who Parks is.

Can't wait to see him back on the water.

DRA 03-28-2007 7:58 AM

Interesting topic, My 2 cents is that PWT needs riders like Shaun and Parks as much as it needs Soven and Harf battling for the top spot. People come to see Shaun ride because he is Shaun Murray and the same for Parks. Not taking anything from the rest of the extremely talented riders on the PWT and some of them have raised the bar so high that it will be a tough year on the podiums. But you will see crowds grow as Parks hits the water just because of the phenom he has been and most likely will continue to be.

premierwake136 03-28-2007 4:42 PM

yeah greg the whole ronix thing was a joke
parks is one of my favorite riders to watch because he just has a great time
i think he rides best when it seems like he is just trying to have a good time
thats what wakeboarding is all about atleast that is y i do it

jon_m 03-28-2007 6:42 PM

you guys, maybe if you keep making ronix jokes you'll be able to do a 1260.

seriously, they stopped being funny after the first one.

bdeisel 03-28-2007 7:50 PM

Don't call it a come back? Ya, call it a done deal. Parks back on the PWT is the best thing for the sport right now. Also too much focus now on big spins, we need to bring back a little bit of that signature style that Parks brings to the sport. We need new moves, bad.....

anodyne 03-28-2007 7:54 PM

I still think they're funny.

03-28-2007 8:05 PM

The guys only 25...you guys act like hes turning 50...

dococ 03-28-2007 9:15 PM

His knees are about 50, probably older than that. So are mine.

wakeboardnut 04-12-2007 7:29 AM

Mr Travis Moye couldnt have said it better, last year at wakestock when Murray was out, i didnt care if he won or not i was just itching to see him ride and throw some HUGE ASS RALEYS, he makes watching the sport fun just like Parks.

But no doubt Parks is gonna tear it up this season!

cbass 04-12-2007 7:44 AM

Hey guys its Parks Bonifay. Who cares if he wins any tour stops this year. He has done more for this sport than alot of people out there. I remember watching him ride back in mid to late 90's before most people knew what wakeboarding was. He killed it then and can kill it now. Also how many guys can do a double flip? 2?

wakedad33 04-12-2007 7:54 AM

"How many people can do double flips, 2?" I know at least four, probably more.

wakeviolater 04-12-2007 7:59 AM

but can anyone else do a double flip...with a 360?

cbass 04-12-2007 8:19 AM

Who are the other 2? Parks and shapiro are the only ones I have seen do them.

tparider 04-12-2007 8:29 AM

Gerry Nunn and Daniel Watkins do them too.

dlwsrider 04-12-2007 8:56 AM

Yeah cause daniel watkins was trying to throw that double back roll to blind at Park's double or nothing (i think that was the double up contest, i always get it and the double up del noche confused).

and then shapiro and parks, and i cant remember but i knwo theres more

driving 04-12-2007 4:54 PM

Gerry Nunn, Jonathon Nadolski, Trevor Hansen, Brett Eisenhower, Daniel Watkins, Parks, Darin, and I am sure there are more.

tonka 04-12-2007 10:32 PM

What kind of double invert does Trevor Hansen throw?

driving 04-13-2007 2:13 AM

A few years ago he was doing double backrolls. I'm not sure if he really does them any more, but, he can.

woreout 04-13-2007 6:14 AM

I don't care if he goes out and does two cannon balls and a jackknife. It will be great for the sport to see Parks back in the arena of competition wakeboarding.
