I am looking at the 2003 Mastercraft X-30 with the 310hp engine not the 350 with no perfect pass, no tower lights or speakers with traileo for 49000. This is after a supposed boat show rebate of three thousand dollars from mastercraft. Is that really only at the boat show? And can i haggle them down more or what? PLease post help. than

Usually, boat show specials are good for about a week or two after the boat shows. Keep in mind that Jan/Feb are really hard months to sell boats. I was at the Nor-Cal Boat Show this week. They had the Red and White X-30 there the sales man said 55k for that boat there with everything. Was he full of "? Tower PP shower ect. P.S I.M.O I would never get a X-30 with the small motor. You might save some money when you buy it but I think Re-sale is going to be down and hurt you because that boat can realy use the extra HP Good luck that X-30 is one big Mamma!

When you were talking to the guys at the mastercraft booth did you happen to get the name of the guy you were dealing with? I live in the bay area and talked to both mastercraft dealers and the bigest thing to think about aside from the price is Service. If you live in the east bay go to the dealer there. I was treated way better there than I was by the guys in the south bay. Their no pressure sales approach and the way their service department treated me made me a customer for life. I have a friend that got his VRS230 in the south bay and it spent the entire month of July in the shop because of problems and to this day he is still having issues with their service.

There were high prices at a show in east Tennessee this weekend. One dealer had significant discounts off of the "MSRP," but the MSRPs themselves seemed pretty inflated. <BR> <BR>E.g., Calabrias are new to the area, and it seemed like a nice boat. However, I was surprised at a discounted price of $52 for one with nothing special. Maybe this is a trend; if the dealers can't make money off high volume, they're determined to try to make it through higher prices on fewer sales. <BR> <BR>For what it's worth, <i>last</i> year's local show had a loaded X-<i>10</i> for $45.1K. That included tower speakers, lights, sub, PP, racks, etc. Given the economy, I'd expect at most a 1% or 2% bump up from last year. Location can make a difference, however. <BR> <BR>If I were shopping, I'd ignore the price shown at the show unless it equals at least 10% off MSRP. If the cost at 10%-15% off MSRP <i>seems reasonable</i>, I'd make it clear I was ready to buy and start negotiating to reach that range. I'd also be ready to walk if the dealer didn't move.

I don't have a comment for you on the price, but I do have a comment for you on the engine. DON'T GET THE 310 HP!!! We have a 2001 X-30 and aside from cosmetics, not much as been changed. We have the 350 HP LTR and it performs pretty good, however, sometimes I wish it had a little more power. When the boat is loaded with a lot of people (which you are probably planning on doing since you are looking @ the X-30), ballast and gear I can assure you, you will be kicking yourself if you go with the stock 310 HP motor.

I looked at the X-30 and ended up with a Malibu WS LSV. Much more versitle boat. Better price, better wake for skiers and the wedge makes it a snap to get wakes for boarding, less bow rise when starting up, I could go on. Shop around you can find a better price than what you were quoted. <BR> <BR>I got a better price from the dealer before the shows than they were giving at the show.

My family just got a 2002 X-30 with every option, freshwater cooling,LTR engine, etc... and the quoted price at the boat show was 49,000. We talked the dealer into throwing in the closed cooling system, flush kit, perfect pass, bimini, and heater for no additional cost. After we added more options then what the dealer threw in, and paid taxes it was near 55,000. Your price is probably reasonable for a 2003 model as they were just released. But we boat ours in September at the end of the 2002 season so they were more willing to negotiate. I'd definitely try to get them to throw in some options though. As far as riding goes, the wake of the X-30 is big and wide. For riders who don't edge very good to get distance and pop it won't be a good wake, but for more experienced riders it's awesome. You can add an enormous amount of weight and people and still be safe in rougher water. <BR> <BR>Dirk, as far as your Malibu LSV goes, it is definitely a better price, but more versatile? Neither boat has a competition ski wake, and everybody knows that the wedge alone is not enough to get a good boarding wake. Additional weight is needed in every boat. We looked at the LSV and decided on the X-30 because it had more interior room, handled great, looked better, and price wasn't that much of an issue. I don't know what bow rise you're talking about in the X-30, I've had a lot of weight and people in the boat with very little bow rise. <BR> <BR>Jay, how do you like your boat?

I bought my '02 X-30 from Ski World. They seemed to be much more down to earth and personable than Cope's. <BR> <BR>I wouldnt go with the 310hp engine either. I have the 330hp one in mine.

Jordan, I like our boat a lot. However, I do not like the wide wake. I guess I am one of those riders that you mentioned! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Normally, we have a lot of people that go out with us and we participate in all watersports, not just boarding (keep the flames to a minimum please). As far as wakeboarding goes, I have ridden in boats that I like to ride behind a lot better than the X-30. But for what we do with it, I think it suits our needs perfectly!

In regard to Jordan's comments. The Wakesetter LSV has a factory ballast in back and in the ski locker. It has a much flatter wake for skiing than a X-30. If you are one demensional, wake boarding only, an X-30 is wonderful. My family likes to ski as well. On a 23' V drive boat the Malibu LSV or the Wakesetter version has a better ski wake than any of the competitive 23' boats. Go test them. <BR> <BR>When I bought my boat the dealer quotes for a Malibu WS LSV vs a X-30 with the same options was over $5000 less.

Dirk, the X-30 also has factory ballast in the back and in the ski locker, but I don't know much about how flat the wake is when it's empty. Most of my time is spent trying to put more weight in the boat. From experience just running out to our riding spot, the wake is still pretty big without the sacs filled and only flattens out when you kick up the speed above 35mph. The dealer here in FL sells both MC and Malibu and his quote for a Malibu WS LSV vs a X-30 with similar options was about $10,000 less. $39,000 vs $49,000.
