Need some help. I have oil bath hubs on my extreme trailer. One is leaking. How do i fix it? Any help is appreciated.

There are inner and outer seals just like a grease lubed hub. One must have gone bad. You can download the repair instructions from http://www.ufpnet.com/PDF/TBGAxleMaint.PDF

Just curious, how are you getting the cap with the see through window on th eend of it fro checkign the oil level, off?

Which kind of oil bath bearings do you have? If the cap is aluminum with a window (as on my '03 MC trailer), you bang it off. I have seen at least one kind of all-plastic cap which is threaded and can be twisted off.

(Message edited by fbroen on July 10, 2006)

I used a rubber mallet last time I had to get it off, just wondering if that was normal.

Why do you take the cap off? Wouldn't that let all the oil flow out?

fbroen 07-20-2006 10:09 AM

You don't, other than for repairs such as if a seal has gone bad and you need to change it.

And yes, the oil flows out if you take it off.
