My buddy is getting a brand new X-2 next week an we were wondering what the break-in period would be on a new boat? How long did you guys wait before you put your boats to use?

10 hours varying the rpm's. This is a must, it allows the pistons seals to seat properly. Then DEFINATELY CHANGE THE OIL. Then you should be okay to do whatever.

There are pretty good instructions in the manual on how to best do it, what rpms to not exceed etc. Or also, on Indmar's site you can download their manual http://www.indmar.com

The one thing I have heard conflicting things on is whether you need to also change the tranny fluid after break-in. What's the deal with that?

Thanks guys. This helps quite a bit. It will be a pain in the @$$ to just put around the lake for 10 hrs, but I can't wait to get it over with!!!

I think Indmar recomends tranny oil change at 25hrs. On direct drive boats they also want the prop shaft alignment check at this time. I don't know about v-drives, I don't own one, Yet.
