LPA Tower Accessories, lostpro.com but it does void the warranty on the windshield

wakebrdr38 03-04-2007 12:39 PM

why would it void it? you can just pull it off.

john_prine 03-04-2007 1:10 PM

yea i dont know why it would void it....someone explain

javony 03-04-2007 1:43 PM

From what I have been told because of the contour of the windshield it has to be taken out to be tinted, which voids the warranty. I have looked into doing it and that was the answer I got

Bad or good idea

clayton191 03-04-2007 2:43 PM

look at the james bubba stewart thread and his tint looks great too. I'm thinking that's the way i'm going to go(i believe it's one of the lightest tints you can get.

flboarder 03-04-2007 8:52 PM

how do you guys see out of the boat later at night when it is getting darker with that dark of tint?

(Message edited by flboarder on March 04, 2007)

haha they dont

showtime702 03-06-2007 8:45 PM

you do not need to remove the glass in order to tint the windshield

downfortheride 03-06-2007 9:30 PM

I'm with Pete, if you are going to do it go black. Most of the time you are higher that the glass (can't wait for the day I can sit in the seat and see fully out the wind shield) and don't need to see out it. It really looks good but I would rather buy another pump and sack then the tint.

kdawg 03-06-2007 10:15 PM

If your going to tint your glass do it for the right reasons. You don't care about seeing through the glass at night, and you want it to look like someone painted your windows black during the day time!!! Here's how you do it, have both sides of the window tinted with the darkest non mirror tint available. If you only tint one side you get the purple affect. Unlike a car, there's equal light on both sides of the glass, so you have to double up the tint to get the right look. My boat has a double layer of tint on both sides of the glass. Trust me on this, I had it ripped out and redone twice. It always looks black and extremely sick!!!! However, I can't see a thing through the glass at night.

Mine is 5% on one the inside I forget what brand of tint it was, one of the lifetime warranty ones. No purple here.

bhog 03-07-2007 7:07 AM

So does it make it where you cant see out?? I dont have the flip up drivers seat.

duckguy 03-07-2007 7:26 AM

just do it a lesser % looks very tasteful

kdawg 03-07-2007 7:29 AM

If you go 5% on both sides you can see out. It's dark but you can still see the person in the water during the day. Even if you keep your shades on, and look through the glass. It's exactly like the back windows on a car with a factory tint. (like a tahoe or escalade) It's dark when you look out of those windows at night and pretty good during the day.

habcaw_creek 03-07-2007 3:32 PM

remember that on a really hot day im usually squinting so mmuch my eyes hurt, even with shades, so i dont think it would be a problem. Plus it keeps your dash looking really nice in a car, but it would probably really protect the dash in a boat.

clayton191 03-07-2007 5:04 PM

Matt,

What percent are you running on that Mastercraft x2 of yours... looks hot.

cartronics 03-11-2007 10:12 PM

I agree that 5% looks great ( my nauti is sporting 5%) however you should know that you will get a glare on the inside of the glass when the sun shines from behind at the inside of the sheild with 5%. We tint most of our customers boats with 15% Llumar film. Still a great look but no glare. You can see some examples on our website srcartronics.com under projects / boats. Hope this helps you out.

I have never had a issue with a boat company canceling the warranty because of tinting the windows. On the Malibus you have to remove the glass to tint it the right way I believe.

kidwell glass has done a few Tige's for us and it has turned out pretty good. they are in Rancho Cordova off of hazel ave.
