So, this past Saturday we were at the sand bar doing are usual routine and a guy in a 19ft Bryant I/O showed up with monster tower... after going over and chatting with him and his girl for a while he asks if we would like a pull. I have a 18ft Crownline I/O, first boat ever and have really been wakeboarding since about May. So I jumped at this chance since all my friends have no trouble mentioning to me how much I need a tower. Anyway, after about 2 short passes I was easily doing w2w heelsides which have almost been impossible for me behind my boat. I also had enough hang time to throw in a few short grabs and also landed in the flats as well. Just wanted to see if anyone knows of a better deal than DIYwake.com has, theirs is 799 free shipping..... and to express my feelings about finally getting a pull from someone that has a tower awesome.... cant wait to meet someone with a malibu or mastercraft.... haha

DIY has the universal tower for $498, but it's UGLY. The swoop one your looking at comes with a free rack, too for $799....about as cheap as your going to find

(Message edited by pri3st on August 04, 2008)

Just out of curiosity luke did you do the instilation on that your self?

If so how long did it take?

And if now, how much did it cost to get installed?

I built my own pylon for my own 85' Welcraft I/O. It Looks sweet and rides perfect. the beauty of it is that it cost me under $100 to do.

Ben how did you build yours? I have an 88 WEllcraft I/O.

hyperliteguy_04 08-08-2008 6:43 AM

we took a 7 foot piece of galvanized pipe, ratchet straps, and a piece of cable.

Made a base out of wood for the bottom of the pylon, ran the cable to the front of the boat, ratchet straps to each corner of the back of the boat.

Works GREAT!!!!

i dont have any pics here at work but Ben does at home, he should be on later today!

this is what I did. to our crestliner growing up. I took a long peace of galvanized pipe. Installed a base from a dock in the bottom of the ski-locker. Custom made a cover for the ski-locker out of 1" Plywood so the pole could be slid in and out. Then used three cables running to three different points in the front of the boat. One over the nose, two off the cleats on either side. Red-neck engineering but it worked great

so 7 feet is better than 3 feet off the water, what about 14 feet?

heres the redneck model

Hey Raymond,

I am thinking about putting a Big Air Pylon tower on my Chaparral this winter, how did you like it, was it solid? Did it raddle in choppy water?

Thanks for any info

The DIY wake tower is PIMP. You simply can not beat it for the price. If the custom tower on my boat now ever falls off the boat during a set and sinks to the bottom of the lake, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another DIY tower.
