Mastercraft pricing

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/20...-X-15-96880452

Mastercraft x-15 $93.5k after taxes close to $100k.
Is anyone actually buying these boats at that price ?
Does anyone know dealer cost on a boat like that ?
I'd love to upgrade our x10 but mastercraft is not leaving much of a upgrade path.

These MFG's are well on their way to pricing themselves out of business.

fman 07-18-2010 10:22 AM

The X-15 is a nice boat, have driven and been pulled behind one.... but there are so many other boats that perform as well or better for much less, 95k is rediculous and IMO is not even close to being worth that cost. I cant imagine they are selling many of them at that price.

wake77 07-18-2010 10:36 AM

That's MSRP. I would bet with even minuscule haggling, you could get it for much less.

ixfe 07-18-2010 10:39 AM

First of all... you are talking about MSRP. That is a joke. Everybody knows it. My local dealer doesn't even bother printing MSRP. They just print their own pricing. The realistic pricing on a 2010 X-15 is probably somewhere in the $70's depending on options.

My local dealer had a couple of leftover '09's earlier this season that sold for low-$60's. One had a ton of silver flake on it. It was hot! Here is a pic and the link to the ad (the boat is now sold). This just shows you what the true street value of these boats really are.

I seriously considered upgrading to this boat based on the hot gel coat and the great looking MC tower. Then I demo'd it and decided it wasn't much of an upgrade over my TWB. The two boats are virtually identical in dimensions. While the X-15 was a very nice boat, I couldn't justify the $20k premium for cool gel coat and tower, especially considering it the X-15 has a smaller stock wake than my MB.

Again, not basing MC. Great boats. If you have $65K - $75K and want to stay in the MC family you will love the X-15. But if you are on a budget and want an less expensive substitute for the X-15, look at the MB TWB. It's a lot of boat for $50K.

has anyone purchased recently

if anyone has purchased a X2, X15 or similar I'd love to know how much ?

idaho_hillbilly 07-19-2010 12:17 AM

Why would a manufacturer list their MSRP $30k over what the dealers will actually sell them for? Is it just so you can say you got your self a $100k boat for just $70k? Mastercrafts prices have been GROSSLY high for years....and they are only getting worst.

Wonder why our local Mastercraft dealer had to pick up Moomba, Centurion, and Supra????? Sure tough selling overpriced boats.

In Oct of 08 I was quoted 86K for a 08 X15 with the 6L engine . We couldent come to agreement
so I looked at the Nautique 210 sante couldent be happier with both boat and price.

mc_x15 07-19-2010 5:40 AM

In May of 08 I Purchased an 08 X-15 SS, with no trailer for 57k. New boat, 0 hours. I know the dealership I was buying from was on the newer side and has since gone out of business from what I understand. Has all the options, heaters, ballast, 2 tower speakers, etc. Just somethign to guage by. I think it was marked somehting like 78k with trailer. 100k for an X-15 is too much in my opinion.

mc_x15 07-19-2010 5:40 AM

MCX engine by the way.

jmvotto 07-19-2010 5:45 AM

a dealer near us lat the end of last season got rid of there last loaded x-15 an 09 at 59,500, MSRP was about 95 if i recall. they dealer traded it, since they swicthed to supra from mc, they have nautiques as well.

wake77 07-19-2010 7:33 AM

"Mastercrafts prices have been GROSSLY high for years....and they are only getting worst."

Nautique and Malibu are doing it as well (MSRP on a SuperAir 230 is 110,00.00). MSRP is always typically higher are most products. Cars, wakeboards, golf clubs, etc. all have much higher MSRP's than what dealers actually sell them.

Regardless of what anyone's opinions are on price, too high, too low, deal, etc... it sounds like the new dealer that cut that deal didn't make enough money to stay in business. Leads me to believe that the manufacturers are the ones setting the prices too high. Distressed inventory over the past couple of seasons has been plenty, and the prices are all over the map for various reasons, but if the manufacturers are the ones pushing up the prices, its going to be a tough battle between consumers and builders. I would hate to be in the middle (dealers).

bruizza 07-20-2010 1:07 PM

That price seems ludicrous to me. I know MSRP is much higher than what boats actually sell for but man to have it listed 20-30k for more than what is sells for is just crazy. I imagine it is a branding issue. Mastercraft has been on top for so long that they inflate the MSRP to make it seem like their boats are that much better and then when you get a "93k" boat for 75k you think it is a great deal.

slipknot 07-20-2010 1:11 PM

theres a 2007 X star for 26K on ebay

will5150 07-20-2010 1:40 PM

One of my best friends bought an 08 x-15 last summer ( July) fully loaded with the big engine, trailer, Perfect pass, KILLER stereo, zero hrs, - he paid cash and had to drive 700 miles to get it, but out the door tax, title, etc..............ready?................Under 50K. No BS

ironcross25 07-20-2010 2:14 PM

I would love to know how much it actually costs to make the boat?

slipknot 07-22-2010 12:03 PM

Dwight you may be right, I think the problem for this particular dealer was the location. IN the area im from wakeboarding is not very popular. Fishin on the other, people will spend 100k on fishing boat to go out twice a season.
