<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okHRs2TNKTo" target="_blank">www.youtube.com/watch?v=okHRs2TNKTo</a> <BR> <BR>This is insane!

wakebrdjay 02-03-2010 6:23 AM

LOL,that's funny. You always hear that snowboarding rips on wakeboarding, but here are snowboarders using a rope and handle doing raley like tricks.Looks like frozen wakeboarding to me.

alevitt 02-03-2010 6:53 AM

I'm probably the world's #1 System 2.0 fan, but that was some of the lamest snowboarding I've ever seen.

jason95gt 02-03-2010 6:54 AM

This would answer the Double cork question. Just get Shaun White to ride this and see if it is possible. They all look like they were very familiar with a handle and handle passes.

mc_x15 02-03-2010 7:08 AM

Lame, i thought it pretty cool?

eubanks01 02-03-2010 7:21 AM

Definitely wakeboarders as well. You don't have that handle control and ability to do handle passes your first time on a cable.

michaelvincz 02-03-2010 8:15 AM

yeah i personally dont see how that can be lame in anyones eyes. just another way to broaden our herizons as riders either wake or snow and mix them together. Those guys are definate wakeboarders as well as sowboarders. Hint: guy doing S-Bends.... anyways I've been waiting to see a cable park do something like this for years. just another way to make cable parks in colder parts of the world more profitable and stay open year around for people who live on flaater parts of the world. Midwest needs one... aka Indiana or Illinois. Haha any investors?

alevitt 02-03-2010 8:29 AM

Why not just get towed in, let go of the rope and hit one of the jumps with at least an ounce of style? Ever hear of grabbing? Even if this was on water I'd still say it looks lame and these guys have no style. Seriously, as a snowboarder, I can't even begin to tell you how retarded this looks. <BR>Again, nothing against the System 2 because it's the best thing to hit wake since sliced bread.

kamighazi 02-03-2010 8:38 AM

Sounds like somebody drank their Haterade today! <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/772810.jpg" alt="Upload">

dizzyj 02-03-2010 8:50 AM

I've always said that I didnt understand why cable parks were not more popular for snow. There are lots of cold snow covered flat areas with no mountains around.

alevitt 02-03-2010 9:18 AM

Snowboarders are already laughing at you: <a href="http://www.yobeat.com/2010/02/03/snow-wakeboarding/" target="_blank">http://www.yobeat.com/2010/02/03/snow-wakeboarding/</a>

kamighazi 02-03-2010 9:41 AM

Damn dude. If i gave a F#$ about what other people thought then yes, "It's SO stupid, and would TOTALLY never be caught dead on it man". <BR> <BR>Luckily since I dont i can say, if I lived somewhere cold, snowy, and flat, I would hop on that thing EVERY SINGLE DAY! With a smile from ear to ear. <BR> <BR>as far as your little hater link, "actually holding on to a handle while snowboarding WILL ruin the sport". Are you F*$ing kidding me? If you're taking snowboarding (or any board sport) that seriously, maybe its time to reexamine what it is to slide on snow or water on a board strapped to you feet. <BR> <BR>like it or not, those dudes might not be super steezy, but their getting more board time in than i am.

bcrider 02-03-2010 9:45 AM

I laugh at you Adam! Maybe this is already setup on a frozen lake that they decided to use for snowboarding in the winter. Do you know all the details of the setup. Sure riding down a hill is a lot more fun but if you can do it in your own back yard why the hell not! Not everyone that snowboards or wakeboards is a pro either....I'm sure yourself included so so what if they don't make every move look like a little piece of heaven. As Ben( above)said, they are gettin more time and havin more fun then I am.

bcrider 02-03-2010 9:46 AM

I have to agree with the consensus here. That video blew me away. I thought it was incredible to see our two sports so close together. Kudos to those that are using the new cable systems to blend the two. Looks like a ton of fun any way you slice it!!

bcrider 02-03-2010 9:46 AM

I agree Dave looked like a good time to me.

bcrider 02-03-2010 9:57 AM

Not that looks like a crazy good time! Those guy's are going huge off that kicker. Way to keep the fun alive during the winter, we could sure use that while not in the mountains in the great state of UT.

wakeworld 02-03-2010 10:01 AM

<i>Seriously guys, as a snowboarder too, I can't even begin to tell you...</i> <BR> <BR>How Awesome I think that looked! Just like Cable riding is different than riding behind a boat, this is different than riding down a mountain. But it looks like a blast to me and it opens up a whole new set of tricks that you can only do with a handle. <BR> <BR>I thought their riding was pretty Sick and I'd jump at the opportunity to ride one!

wakeworld 02-03-2010 10:06 AM

Dang who peed in your snow this morning Adam? +1 for a stylish culmination of sports.

innov8 02-03-2010 10:13 AM

Snowkiting, yippee!

downfortheride 02-03-2010 10:14 AM

Ya Norway! Tumbleturns on snow and handle passes in mittens, thats pretty steezy.

wkbrdrchad 02-03-2010 10:18 AM

"BUT, snowboarding does not need the System. On top of the fact we have mountains, " <BR> <BR>The author of that post is a d-bag. <BR> <BR>Who is he to decide what snowboarding needs? News flash....not everyone has mountains! <BR> <BR>That was awesome. Love to see people trying new things. The snowboarding edge is less forgiving. I bet they took some hard falls.

bmartin 02-03-2010 10:18 AM

that is bad ass. <BR> <BR>sucks there isint one close to south lake tahoe.

alevitt 02-03-2010 10:21 AM

<b>Snowboarders are already laughing at you</b> <BR> <BR>Pics or it's retarded little children.

benjaminp 02-03-2010 10:21 AM

i agree, many places in the Midwest could use something like this. Sick vid!

jarrod 02-03-2010 10:42 AM

Snowboarding and wakeboarding are about having fun, and it sure looks like everyone is having a damn good time. The problem is all the "STEEZERS" trying to look cooler than the next guy. No grab, who give a <a href="mailto:F@ck">F@ck</a>.

wakeviolater 02-03-2010 10:45 AM

I can't believe people would make fun of this! Somebody out having fun on a board is lame?? Wow, we have put our little sports WAY to much in a box. Do snowboarders think that riding a small hill or hitting a rail in your backyard is lame too since it's not on the mountains?

fly135 02-03-2010 10:48 AM

Snowboarding and the Sesitec System 2.0 are both totally awesome, right? I know we can all agree on that. <BR>And likewise, bacon and milkshakes are both awesome foods, correct? But have you ever tried a Bacon Milkshake? Trust me, for arguments sake and to prove my point, i just tried it. Threw up so bad I popped a rib. <BR>See what I'm trying to say? <BR> <BR>(Of course this argument completely falls apart if you don't like bacon, but that would also mean you're a total idiot; I mean who doesn't love bacon?)

wakecrzy2000 02-03-2010 10:49 AM

^^^ looks like all the guys in the video like bacon milkshakes. I guess I would like bacon milkshakes as well. <BR> <BR>If I have a cable park or sestic setup for wakeboarding and it snows during the winter are you trying to tell me I couldn't use it to snowboard...Seriously!? I'm only allowed to use it for wakeboarding. That sounds like NOT making the most out of your investment. <BR> <BR>They should come with a disclaimer. <BR> <BR>" Not to be used to pull snowboarders as it takes away from the sport" <BR> <BR>I guess I can't pull myself behind a snowmobile either.

mc_x15 02-03-2010 10:56 AM

Well, for a second there I thought you had put an end to this entire controversy. In fact, I had already begun blogging on multiple sites about the evils of this this recently discovered offshoot of snowboarding and wakeboarding. But then I looked down at the pasta salad that I'm munching on for lunch. There it was...bacon (I like bacon). It was happily sitting beside pasta (I like pasta), avocado (I like avocado), tomato (I like tomato) and many other fine ingredients. They all came together to create one of the best salads I've ever had. <BR> <BR>Now where does that leave us?????

eubanks01 02-03-2010 11:37 AM

Eubanks said it. The bashers are in a box. All they do is snowboard probably and anything else is silly to them. <BR> <BR>I've seen tow-ins in a lot of snowboarding videos....so it's only cool if you let go of the handle before you hit the rail or jump? The handle created more possibilities, tricks that can't be done otherwise. Like many have pointed out, these guys were out to have fun. Lakes are frozen, no hills around, why not? Should they sit inside because the core snowboarders think it's lame?

alevitt 02-03-2010 11:41 AM

Tunafish Latte. Nuff said.

bcrider 02-03-2010 11:52 AM

adam, is it that important to you what snowboarders think of wakeboarding?

wakeworld 02-03-2010 11:53 AM

mmmm...bacon milkshake

jarrod 02-03-2010 11:58 AM

Well there you go Adam! how you're talkin. We can do like some new music video for it, to advertise 2.0 snow... <BR> <BR>I can hear it now... "My Bacon Milkshake brings all the boards to the yard!" <BR>and Kelis can be in a little snow outfit while the NON-snowboarders board around her (on snowboards). <BR><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGL2rytTraA" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGL2rytTraA</a> <BR> <BR>Now that is a good video ad!}

alevitt 02-03-2010 12:00 PM

Joe, you touch on a much larger point that I don't have to time to go into on this forum. If you want my thoughts send me a PM. Or maybe I'll write my something on my blog. The fact of the matter is we should ALL care what snowboarders think of wakeboarding if we want our sport to grow. <BR>I'm done. <BR>Oh one more thing: sauerkraut tapioca pudding

dakid 02-03-2010 12:01 PM

Most people don't give a shizzle about growing the sport. Most people simply board because it is fun. <BR> <BR>Stop overthinking it Adam.

dizzyj 02-03-2010 12:02 PM

All right one more. <BR>Timothy couple of questions: Do you care that the biggest mag in the industry is HALF the size it was last year? Do you care that a lot of pro's aren't getting paid nearly is much as they used to? Do you care that a lot pro's have to work one or two jobs to get by? Do you care that pro wake cash purses are a fraction of what they are for surf, snow or skate? Do you care that there's only two stops for the women on the Pro Wakeboard Tour - the leading tour in the world? <BR>You should care because all of these things are related. If you don't I'm certainly not going to change your mind.

kamighazi 02-03-2010 12:13 PM

have you considered the fact that the economy has a lot to do w/ your questions?

alevitt 02-03-2010 12:22 PM

No, I don't care about any of those things. I am far more inspired by people doing creative things like the original post. People that do the sport to have fun, rather than use the sport to try and make a buck.

timmy 02-03-2010 12:29 PM

Adam- your most recent post is about 15% creativity, 85% stupidity. <BR> <BR>The cash purses are smaller than the rest of them because wakeboarding costs ALOT more to get into than any other extreme sport, which probably has something to do with why there arent as many wakeboarders out there. Also, the whole WORLD WIDE RECESSION AND GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS surely has NOTHING to do with why there is less cash available from sponsors.

alevitt 02-03-2010 12:41 PM

^^^^I don't care about all those things. <BR> <BR>Even so, I seriously doubt that using a cable to make a snow park doesn't have anything to do with all of that.

dakid 02-03-2010 12:48 PM

"The fact of the matter is we should ALL care what snowboarders think of wakeboarding if we want our sport to grow." <BR> <BR>Conform to what the snowboarders think is cool for acceptance? Ah man, that's terrible. We should be our own sport. <BR> <BR>Yeah Adam, you just described the affects of a down economy. Everything is down. <BR> <BR>I don't care what snowboarders think, or if the size of our sport never achieves Snowboarding size.

timmy 02-03-2010 12:50 PM

I wonder, back in the day, if there was a skateboarder in a snowboarding forum laughing at the snowboarders going off kickers, making half pipes, and sliding rails and saying. Us skateboarders are all laughing at you, you should CARE what we think!

hco 02-03-2010 1:03 PM

The cable IS what is goin to expand our sport. I am absolutely stoked for our sport and am willing to supprt anything that has to do with the cable. Adam, the fact that you are even saying that this isn't cool at all isn't cool. It's making an argument AGAINST a major player (Sesitec) who is going to take our sport to the next level. If you want to support the industry support the industry players.

fly135 02-03-2010 1:33 PM

For the record. I have snowboarded for 17 years and wakeboarded for about 14-15 years....so I guess that makes me a snowboarder more then a wakeboarder therefore, this is one OG snowboarder that says "rad" ( ya I said it) to the idea of using a sestic to pull a snowboarder. Arguement over!

jarrod 02-03-2010 1:47 PM

Well I keep getting sucked back into this one: <BR>Dwight, read the post: you won't find a bigger Sesitec supporter in the world than me. I've ridden on it numerous times (on water) and it's so much fun if I had 30K lying around I'd buy one in a heart beat. Our contest, Wakestock, was the first contest in the world to use the Sesitec System; yeah we rolled it out before the Wake Lab. Pat Panakos is a personal friend and I know he's selling these things like hotcakes and I wish him all the best. You're right the System 2.0 is going to change our sport for the better. <BR>I've never said anywhere this makes wakeboarding look bad. And neither did the yobeat link. I'm saying that it makes looks snowboarding (and skiing) look bad. What do you guys care about what I say about snowboarding? I think most snowboarders out there, or at least ALL of the ones I know personally, never want their sport to resemble snowkiting or ski kiting (if that's even the term for it?). <BR>I'm out: I need some dinner. <BR>Love, peace and chicken grease

eljefepequeno 02-03-2010 2:00 PM

My issue isn't that anybody looks bad. But IF we have snowboarders who are using this thing we'll have snowboarders familiar with it and riding it in the summer time too. So what if some snowboarders hate it. We'll have some open minded ones (not the ones willing to just sit around and eat cheesies all summer) who get out and enjoy our sport.

beretta5spd 02-03-2010 3:23 PM

honestly why I think most snowboarders thought it was stupid was because of the "air" tricks they were doing on the system. Something impossible on a snowboard and respectively impossible. <BR> <BR>But what snowboarder or skier hasnt wished they could find more speed for a rail they found and then just do hot laps around the thing for fun? <BR> <BR>blah blah, I know its all for fun, and Im glad people are having fun. Not that anything is "wrong" because who truly cares, but I would have to say what they were doing out there was kiteboarding minus mother nature plus one of those christmas toy magnetic ice rinks. <BR> <BR>I'd probably have fun out there so I'm not going to condemn it, but I sure wont be showing this to my snow friends.

bcrider 02-03-2010 3:24 PM

Wakeboarding...the insecure boardsport! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>

alevitt 02-03-2010 3:54 PM

by the way, i think brooke at alliance is one of the lamest writers in wake. sure she does a great job for alliance online, but then she just takes things from those sites only to make fun of them on yobeat. why bite the hand that feeds you?

beretta5spd 02-03-2010 4:19 PM

what 'choo talkin' 'bout willis?

hypoxic_films 02-03-2010 4:45 PM

What's wrong with snowkiting? I think its cool. I live in Kansas and that is the closest thing I'm getting to snowboarding. Unless I go to Kansas City and board down a big hill. I happen to really like the kite sports. Its a smaller investment and still looks like a lot of fun. Why do snowboarders hate us so much anyway?

wakeworld 02-03-2010 4:47 PM

what's wrong with making ANY sport more accessible? <BR> <BR>until snowboards can self propel themselves on flat ground with hover tech or whatever, go for it. <BR> <BR>im all for metaphors, but comparing two board sports to two entirely different foods is ridiculous. More correctly, Bacon might be _____boarding and a milk shake might be, ohh, say, ballet or bowling or something else not on a board <BR> <BR>besides, <BR>milk makes pretty good cheese, and that bacon would make for a good bacon cheese pizza <BR> <BR> <BR>(Message edited by wakerider111 on February 03, 2010)

aww man i just ran out of popcorn

dakid 02-03-2010 5:31 PM

I don't know about all of you... but I live in an area where unless you drive 3.5 hours or more you cannot get to a mountain, and that's closer than lots of people. <BR> <BR>Yes we have some hills, we have at least 4 local hills to hit up, all of varying set ups. You're still limitted in what you can do and often times I just end up walking the park. The straight runs take you 30 seconds or less to bomb down, even if you're hitting a couple rollers for air it's still way fast. <BR> <BR>Something like this, which isn't retardly expensive could be purchased between a few friends and right in your backyard you could have a sweet little mini park that you shape and change at your wim that would provide you with countless hours of riding. <BR> <BR>No more waiting 20 minutes in a lift line for a 30 second run! No more sitting on a hill surrounded by 20 teens all "dropping next". No more being worried about trying something new just to be made fun of by kids half your age that have no respect for the fact that it's new to you! <BR> <BR>I snowboard... but for obvious reasons I have a beef with snowboarding. Now when I can actually make it out to the mountains it's a whole nother world, but there's still plenty of A-holes and long lift lines. <BR> <BR>I'll still gladly take a boat with some of my good friends, scantly clad ladies, pumping music, calm water, sunshine, and an environment that more often than not is all about a positive atmosphere and seeing people push their limits!

kcrider 02-03-2010 8:01 PM

i think that its cool! I agree with all the positive comments. And I'm not trying to start an argument when I say: there are just some people who are in love with getting in a debate and you make this forum a place where most pros don't want to come. Have you guys that are so negative ever wondered why only a handfull of pros ever comment on here? Thats why we have to do the interviews and such b/c they don't want to be a part of this rediculous talk. There is way to much pride in some of the comments. Its like people "get off" to having the best opinion on here when it's really the most ignorant. I understand that people want to state their opinion, but come on man....get real and chill

wakerider111 02-03-2010 11:26 PM

that made wakeboarding look wack. the handle negates all fluidity that is usually involved in a snowboarding maneuver. and all those tricks looked herky jerky and lame to me.

bawllaoutacontrol 02-03-2010 11:48 PM

maybe we should all let go of the handle while attempting tricks when wakeboarding to be way cooler

eternalshadow 02-04-2010 7:54 AM

Super Super lame. They need to let go of the rope and then it would be ok.

bawllaoutacontrol 02-04-2010 10:14 AM

It's about as cool as this..... <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhipLekqry8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhipLekqry8</a>

romes 02-04-2010 10:56 AM

Or about as cool as your profile picture <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0>

beretta5spd 02-04-2010 11:16 AM

You can definitly tell its Febuary.... We all need to get out and ride. <BR> <BR>That being said, I hope wakeboarding NEVER turns into what snowboarding is now... This coming from somebody who lived in CO for a while, and still snowboards on a regular basis in the winter.

shredsickgnar 02-04-2010 11:18 AM

Maybe everyone should stop making vids, especially of newer and different ways to have FUN! Sometimes we forget what it's all about, geez! <BR> <BR>RELAX AND HAVE FUN FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING FUN!!!

shredsickgnar 02-04-2010 11:26 AM

it did look fun to boosting those straight airs tho!!

kamighazi 02-04-2010 11:27 AM

My thought is this: more important to ensure there are no arbitrary restrictions in sports like wakeboarding and snowboarding. We should encourage total expression. We should discourage repression. <BR> <BR>So frustrating when people put forward tyrannical speeches that imply they have some authority over the matter. <BR> <BR>Its not about whether YOU like it or not. Thats why YOU can go out and by your own gear and ride how you want. <BR> <BR>Just my lame opinion.

stepintoliquid 02-04-2010 11:34 AM

i didnt read most of the post...so much drama...but i thought this was awesome and id love to ride it. any chance to be on a board im there!

rmcronin 02-04-2010 4:17 PM

you didn't miss anything KDuff. <BR>Roy's comment is awesome. Its true. buy your own gear and ride how you want to.

romes 02-04-2010 5:20 PM

well said adam. as for me i love riding around on a wakeboard... but i think the majority of the industry is really lame. the brands and some of the riders do it to themselves. <BR> <BR>as for the 2.0 on snow. not for me. hope they had fun.
