I am looking for a tower mirror arm for my Sanger and have heard that some of the mirror arms offered do not fit properly. I have the proflight swoop tower and was wondering which tower mirror arms fit that tower best. If anyone has pictures, please post them.

Get ahold of Wakeair. Theirs is one of the best on the market. They will give you the right clamp for your tubing size also. www.wakeair.com

Here is a pic of a Carbon Fiber mirrior arm on a Pro Flite. www.fundamentialindustries.com

I prefer the Skylon arm.

If you want it to fit right don't buy the Proflight arm. The Skylon arm fits great.

ndavis03 12-14-2006 8:11 AM

Sparky and Walt- is the ball mount style the only one that fits right from Skylon? Can you use the CIPA windshield mount mirror with the ball mount, or would I have to buy a new mirror as well?

I like Lightning Audio for my Racks and mirror arm they have been the only guys I've found that can get it right the first time. Not that the other guys are bad it's just that I go through alot of mirror arms and these guys are always the most consitant for me you can call Dilland at HOT H2O in SAC and he can help you (916) 631-0505 if that number is wrong hit up 411.

r3612 12-14-2006 11:44 AM

You can use your ball mount windshield mirror.

You guys with the Skylon arm....It doesn't sit on a funny angle to the windshield? I will second the proflight comment. Theirs suck.

So I"m looking as well. I like the Wake air one....Looks simple.....So not too hyjack the thread...Anybody have experience with articulating ones? I would just be concerned about vibration....The Wakeair one seems to be the most solid articulating one, but I have never owned one...just kind like the option of having a couple different ways to try and find the best spot at the best angle. Others I"ve looked at are the Monster Tower, the Skylon, and the Boss one. all articulating versions. Problem is noone here stocks any of them so I"m buying blind hard to get an idea opf quality on pics alone

Does the post style Skylon arm work as well as the ball mount? My windshield mount mirror is post style, so I would prefer not having to buy a whole new mirror.

grant_west 12-14-2006 1:39 PM

Nick I have seen some adaptors from post to ball. But I dont think its very common. So if you dont want to change your mirrior better get the right arm.

(Message edited by grant_west on December 14, 2006)

ndavis03 12-14-2006 3:01 PM

Grant- do you know where I could possibly find the adaptor from post to ball?

r3612 12-14-2006 8:33 PM

Nick,
most of the mirror arms if I"m not mistaken come with the post mounts.....You have to by the ball mount adapter for most of the mounts I"ve been looking at...see list above.

Pretty sure if you bought any ball mount adapter from any company it would fit on any mirror arm, because its a standard size

(Message edited by r3612 on December 14, 2006)

Nick, the mirror you have will work because when you buy the arm, it will ask you ball mount or shaft. Ive heard the shaft ones can slip more though. My ball mount has never moved once. KJ, no funny angles, and I'm not a fan of the articulating ones.

I got my 1 7/8 skylon mirror mount today and it does not fit my pro flight tower right. The clamps are to big for the vertical bars on the tower. My tower is a 04.Has pro flight changed tubing size in recent years?Where exactly have you guys mounted yours?

titan makes an arm that's on a heim joint, I love it

dbot5, multiple adjustments, comes with mirror

stevev210 12-15-2006 8:43 PM

Bill, the vertical tubing is 1 3/4 and the cross bars are 1 1/2. Im not sure if they went to 1 7/8 in 05.

sangerlover 12-16-2006 7:20 AM

I bought my Skylon arm 1-7/8" and mirror a couple months ago but have not installed on my 03 yet. I am wondering if it even fits now. May have to uncover today and find out. I had no idea they had changed tube size. Totally my fault though I assumed my tower was 1-7/8".

magellan 12-16-2006 7:41 AM

How does that Dbot5 one mount to the tower. Doesn't look like there's a clamp or mount on it.

supreme_rob 12-16-2006 8:12 AM

I have an 05' proflight swoop and I have tried 2 different mirror arms. Proflight's swoop is 1-7/8" the problem is the tubing becomes slightly out of round with the bend in the tower which changes the 1-7/8" therefore creating an ill fitting clamp, also makes for a strange angle with aligning the mirror with the windshield.I have bought two billet mirror set-ups and the one that worked the best is the articulating lightning arm which gave me the perfect angle with my windshield and as far as the clamp, I had to use longer bolts to get it to make up enough because the clamp is a perfectly round 1-7/8" and the proflight swoop tower is an out of round 1-7/8". You can see the set-up in the pic on my profile.

newoldskool 12-16-2006 9:24 AM

Rob,the tubing on your tower were your mirror is mounted is 1 3/4 on my 04 tower.proflight must have went to 1 7/8 in 05 like steve was saying.

boardr2d 12-17-2006 1:15 PM

did i mention dbot5 mirror mount fits any tower out of the box

boardr2d 12-17-2006 9:59 PM

every dbot5 tower accessory comes with their universal mount,

walt 12-18-2006 5:35 AM

IMO the Dbot arm is FUGLY.
