bflat53212 05-11-2006 12:00 PM

Anything with flash is out in my opinion. Just not a fan. I like this one:

www.otownwatersports.com

I like the color and photos on the homepage. But, I'm a little biased!

(Message edited by bflat53212 on May 11, 2006)

taylormade 05-11-2006 12:02 PM

effin surf control... can't get to zombo.com from work.

ciewakeboarding.com has the potential to be REALLY sweet the entire site's under construction.

wakezone 05-11-2006 12:08 PM

CIE is the bes one so far... c'mon now i know there is more out there!!!

dakid 05-11-2006 12:14 PM

a lot of sites w/ flash gets my vote, but these 2 are my favorites;

site #1
site #2

guido 05-11-2006 12:25 PM

Hey, hey, hey now.... We're working on the site. We'll have clothing up within the next couple weeks and we're planning a team trip to get some footage. Check back in a few weeks.

Thanks for the props though.

cali_rider 05-11-2006 12:35 PM

This is my buddys company, the site is by far one of the best i have seen.

www.evolvedfilms.com

xray_eye 05-11-2006 1:02 PM

WW, CIE, and www.xrayeyewear.com is pretty sweeeet too.

dakid 05-11-2006 1:05 PM

travis, your buddy's site's pretty cool, but i hate sites that says "click to enter." and it took forever to load up tho. (might wanna contact chris ramey for faster server)

jarrod 05-11-2006 1:07 PM

Thanks for the props guys. Very cool.

taylormade 05-11-2006 1:22 PM

Evan, meant no offense, man, the site is awesome looking, just was making a comment about how almost every link brought me to the same "under construction" page. It looks great though! I even forwarded it to my fiance' so she could check it out. She's a freelance graphic designer.

dakid 05-11-2006 1:24 PM

yeah, cie's site is pretty dope!

rockledge 05-11-2006 1:32 PM

I've just spent a half hour on Zombo.com . . . I'm having trouble focussing now.

Thanks Justin.

isler 05-11-2006 2:26 PM

I'm a fan of Josh Letchworth's site: www.joshletchworth.com . I am actually in the process of creating a site using the same tools he is using, so I can retire my tired old current site.

Cheers,

Mike Isler
www.islerphoto.com

guido 05-11-2006 2:42 PM

Scott: None taken. I was totally joking. I really like our site so far, but we've been joking for a while about actually getting something up on it (like clothese or video or pics... really anything). We've been a little more focused on getting the year rolling with some events and getting our schwag out to the shops. Keep checking though. Once we get rolling we should keep it updated pretty regularly.

99xstar 05-11-2006 3:48 PM

This site has given me a lot of insight on the sport, so I have to vote it #1. A very close second would have to be realultimatepower.net

wakezone 05-11-2006 4:25 PM

Evan ths site looks great! One of the coolest out there; thus far i think CIE & www.evolvedfilms.com get my vote so far... i am thinkin about running a contest of the BEST LOOKING SITE EVER! ok actually i will give away some gear to whoever shows me the best looking site they can find online... of course it will be picked by the posters, not myself. let me see hwat kind of gear i can rummage up, and whoever thinks this si a good idea let me know! (it will be somthing sick! no BS here)
wakezone 05-11-2006 4:49 PM

yo jeff no question ww is #1 but my question was BEST LOOKING SITE thas all; dosnt matter content, (evan) or anything else. just the way it looks. we all know ww is the best site on the internet and has been since 1996

hdrew 05-11-2006 6:18 PM

Mike,
I have the same setup as Josh's. Your gonna love the ease of it when get yours set up.
http://www.hankdrew.com

Hank

eccpaint 05-11-2006 7:37 PM

Has nothing to do with wakeboarding.

www.killerpaint.com

Great website though.
nautiqu13 05-11-2006 7:39 PM

So I thought for a second that I could claim that orlandowake.com was the best.

I thought, perfect, Chase will agree, we've got great shots of him on our site. Then I remembered Sean lost all the pics. That's definitely a -1.

Then I thought, well Matt's up on there. But again, Sean wasn't around.

So I'm thinking,
I'm sure Sean has a good shot of Steve up, but realize we haven't put any up yet.

Then I realized that I have an old shot of myself up that Mike took, and I haven't asked for his permission.

If we were on top of things I might have been able to rally you guys. We failed miserably! But really it was good to find this thread and see you all on here.

Chase,
Thanks again for the good words, it's helped us out a lot!!! Hope all is well up in DC.

Matt,
How are things going? The shades are looking good. Send down some rain!

Steve,
I'll have to share with you my recent experience with a bs 3. Not as bad as yours, but it woke me up.

Isler,
uh...I guess I already incriminated myself, but hey those old sitting duck tube shots are still my favs. Do you think it would be possible to use it for our site? Yeah I know, its way too late.

Hope you all are well.

Derek
SEAMAN-

I'd love to get you the pictures, but I have to fire up my time machine first. Those must have been from 6 years ago at least, right? I can look for them, but don't have high hopes... I didn't have much organization back then (still don't). =)

bflat53212 05-12-2006 9:15 AM

What's up Seaman? Yeah you had me laughing:

"Steve,
I'll have to share with you my recent experience with a bs 3. Not as bad as yours, but it woke me up. "

I started throwing them again, but they all feel like I'm freaking out about catching an edge. Hopefully I'll see you guys next week sometime. Later.

xray_eye 05-12-2006 9:56 AM

Seaman
Good to hear your still alive, how are things? Are we on for Sept.? Talk at ya later.

justwakein 05-12-2006 11:27 AM

zombo.com is flash maybe part of the reason some of you arn't able to view it and

your welcome chase teeheehee

bflat53212 05-12-2006 12:40 PM

THE justin, that was my point earlier. Flash is very cool, but always seems to cause problems. Any site where you are trying to draw a lot of people too and sell any type of product, is generally better off using flash sparingly. I don't know if you remember the old Wakeboarding Magazine site, that was exclusively flash, that didn't last. You can do a lot of different things with flash, but when functionality is an issue, you're really just driving people away. I would take a well laid-out site with easy navigation over a flash site any day. Just my 2 cents and I know most people will disagree with me, but I'm speaking more from a business point of view, not what's "cool".

Personally, I prefer standards based design (CSS, XHTML and perhaps JavaScript, if you need dynamic stuff).

The CSS Zen Garden project was started a while back to showcase cool stuff that can be done with standards based design: http://www.mezzoblue.com/zengarden/alldesigns/

wakeandsnow27 05-17-2006 12:23 AM

as much as I like WW....the forum need alot of improvement.

Other forums I frequent, you can hold your mouse over the thread topic and see the first line. Saves a ton of time to preview the first post in the thread.
also, the icon to the left of the thread is different if you have posted in it. Helps alot to find threads you've posted in instead of reading every thread topic looking for one that may be familiar. i hate the way this forum is set up. no offense to dave or the staff...just the layout and manueverability could be much easier.

wakeandsnow27 05-17-2006 12:31 AM

those are just a couple things. however, it doesnt seem like ww asks for advice much, and it's been like this since Ive been around. this is an old school forum. there are much better ones out there to apply into ww. see www.vbulletin.com for layouts, templates, etc.
