LED Cup Holders Help Please!!!

Hey Guys,
I'm new to the forum and am currently away from my boat and got my hands on some 1/2 inch thick plexi to make the rings out of. What i'm wondering is what the diameter from outside to outside would be on the stainless steel cup holders on a 2010 nautique. I basically just need to know what size hole saw to get. I was thinking a 4 inch will be big enough to give just a little review if any. Any body know about the outside diameter of the cupholders??
Thanks
-Mike

Are you using 1 or 2 hole saws? Just wondering if you would cut the larger one out first and then try and cut the inside one out or are you using something else to cut the outside one?

I think i'm going to use 2 hole saws and cut the larger one first. I actually just got an e-mail from Nautiqueparts.com and they said that the outside measurements of their stainless steel cup holders is 4 1/8". So i think i will use a 4 3/8" or 4 1/2" for the outside and a 3 3/4" for the inside. Once i cut these out i'm going to router the outside edge to clean it up and then install the led waterproof strip after that is done. I'm currently out of town so i won't be back home to use my router for about a week or two but i'll post some pictures when i get back home.
What would you think about the outside size?

Cup holders Varry form year to year make to make and day to day. My advice is take one of your cup holders out and cut a hole in a piece of wood. Adjust the hole to fit your cup holder. then use that hole to make your measurments. I don't know how much luck cutting a clean whole your going to have using a whole saw on plexy. The whole saw will heat up so much that most likely your melt the plexy as you cut it and your hole will not be very clean. Most everyone uses a Router to cut plexy ring's

Best Advice I can give you is take the cup holder down to your local Plastic fab shop and have them cut you the rings most shops will charge you like $20 per ring including the Plexy Also bring your LED strips so the can adjust for them

Good luck

Mike,

Beware, my Nautique cupholders were 3 different sizes. Close enough so it was not noticeable until I started fitting the rings to them. Ended up replacing all 10 cupholders with new matching ones then fitting rings cut by tap plastics hand sanded to a finish I liked. Sandblasting is quicker and yields a good finish for the application.
