built a floater, bout 20 ft. no pics on this comp.

just make it at least 30 ft flat bar in the middle. it goes by fast!
|
Built this last Spring and it held up great all summer. It was originally supposed to be an A-frame, each lengh 16' but once it was all built, we noticed that the 2x4's on one of the end pieces was corkscrewed so we took off the end piece and had about a 4' drop off the end.

Jason, it's a pond in WA. that Active Water Sports owns. They put on about 4 contest a year at this site including the Hippodrome that was part of the Toe Jam tour. Rumor has it their putting a transfer box in this winter. Nice slider park, I think they have 7 rails currently.
Sorry about the photo quality I have no skills.

|
Jakober,

Nice shots I am betting the top on is new!

Heres a couple pics of me on a floating slider me and a friend fabbed up. We used 2 55 gallon barrels to float it, scrap wood from a job site, and 2 1/2 pvc pipe for the sliding portion. Only had about $30 in it. It was fun and lasted for 2 summers but ended up breaking.

Here is a slider I sessioned on a trip last spring down to the Delta. The cool thing is that the water level was affected by the tide. When we showed up the sliders looked like this:

The winch had not showed up yet so we decided to go riding, and when we got back it looked like this:

and the water just kept getting lower and lower. At the end of the session there was only about 2 feet of water extending out from the left side of the slider and it was only about 6" deep!

Nobody in my crew took pics of the actual session, but we do have it on video, I swear!!!

jjakober

(Message edited by jjakober on February 14, 2008)

Richard, we actually got all the wood for that slider from the Lowes in Antioch. We built it at the house in Disco Bay so we made about 10 trips back and forth to Antioch to keep getting more material.

Aaron, how did you sink your holes for your braces? looking to built a fixed one like that this summer.
|
- We put caps over the top of the 4x4's so when were pounding em with the sledge it didn't break apart the wood. We built a table / stand in the mud to give us leverage to pound them down. We had mostly 8-10 footers & most of the delta mud is soft.

- The 2x4 braces along the entire rail also give us adtl support & a little room for error if one is pounded in to much or we just sawwed the tops off if we hit hard groud.

- One of the reason it is so stable is we have those 10 foot tree / landscape stakes (2.99) that you see supporting trees in parks behind every one of the posts. The 10 footers were driven all the way down @ low tide so there is literally like 6 feet deep into the mud & only 4 feet out & screwed into the 4x4's for xtra support. This really makes it secure / doesnt wobble at all. ( made them red in the photo as they are hard to see )

- This has been up for 2 + years & is stil very very strong with all the rising tide & debris that float through the Delta.

- The slider is up to 2/3 feet out of the water @ high tide & about water level @ low tide.
|
what part of the delta is that slider located??
|
I bet the reason why the slider is still standing and is still in good shape has something to do with nobody except a few knowing where it is.
|
its easy to find its right outside of tracy oasis or if you go outta rivers end take i wanna say the first right onto the sleugh that goes to tracy oasis and its right there i havent hit it cuz it looks likethe top is messed up but i actually didnt stop at it i just rode past and took a look and decided not to but its rather easy to find
|
Aaron you should call me and let me know where those are!
|
i know where they are mike... if you have a boat we can get out there
|
kyle, did you help build it?

The only reason I ask is that I would not be outing someone else's slider unless I were part owner. I am not trying to start anything, I know its a public waterway, but I think spilling the beans on a public forum is in bad taste.

Hopefully you helped build it though
|
man those two that were up in the delta last year were not up very long, saw them everyday because they're right by orwood and thats the way we always went out from.

remembered looking at them every time just wishing i had a winch =/
|
the reason the slider aaron built is still there is because its in an area not normally traveled by the majority of the people that use the delta.
|
nah matt unfortunately i didnt help build em
and to aaron man sry bout tossin the location out there man

Mine makes me laugh
It was pretty cheap to build. The tube was like $40 dollars or less (garage sale)... i forget. the PVC pipes free, and the straps to hold the PVC 5 dollars or something, cinder blocks to hold it down-no additional cost. First time i ever hit anything with rails. I put a nice 2 inch gouge in my cheap board (almost my foot too) on the crash shown in the pic.

i figured it was down that slough just bc of the amount of bushes and trees on the levie, jason we should definitly go kill it Aaron i promise i wont trash you slider, if i break something i will fix it... promise

no dont worrie i wouldnt session someone elses slider without there permision. id be pissed.
|
How can anything put in the delta be claimed as someones property?
|
chris, you can't really. but it should be common courtesy to take care of the sliders, i.e. fix anything you break.
|
I can understand that and would do the same. I bet anything that could survive the delta for 2 seasons would have no problems dealing with a few wakeboards.
|
both sittn in the delta right now

Crash, that WakeWorld logo kicks ass!
|
Tyler, what do you have on top of your rail for the sliding surface?
|
Clay, we used PVC sheeting off of old hockey boards. Wouldn't recommend it as it's only about 1/4" thick and it warped alot. If you use PVC sheet I would suggest going to 1/2" thick but if your stuck using 1/4" then I would put some quality plywood underneath the PVC and use alot of glue and screws to attach it.
|
i can vouch that aarons slider is awesome as a 250 pounder in the crew i ride with has hit it. now if kyle would stop throwing up locations to sliders! im not gunna be your friend if you keep doing that lol
|
thanks dave, i did that just for you, wish i had some wakeworld stickers to go on it and my board
