Get better Shawn,

dmc_napa 08-17-2008 12:33 PM

I was in the boat, and the crash honestly didn't look too bad. That should just tell everyone that the one's that don't look too bad can be...

He went for a 360, which turned into a 3-5-7 something, and he looked to go into the water laid out flat. We called from the boat to make sure he was okay, and he waved us off. I felt so bad to know we left him behind and hurt.

We are wishing you a speedy recovery, and I hope your first comp experience hasn't ruined you forever on riding.

08-17-2008 1:10 PM

Sorry to hear that man. Hope you get better soon!

Hey, if there's anything you need, we're right down the street.

Good luck bro

eargasm 08-17-2008 1:48 PM

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Thanks to DRA crew, CIE, OffAxis(Shon) for all your help assisting me. Had a blast for my first ever comp. Will be back fo sho!
Well its sunday now and I've been at UCD now for 24hrs waiting for surgery. Surgey is scheduled for tuesday they tell me so will be here for another 6 days at least. After looking at catscan tibia bone broke in 2places and another bone which I can't remember name. They will install 4plates with pins and screws. Doesn't look like any ligament damage. Will update after surgery thanks again to all and ride on!

guido 08-17-2008 4:58 PM

Dang sucka.... You weren't joking when you said you though something was broken. Get well soon man. That hospital stay has got to be killing you with boredom. Next time you break your leg, don't waive the boat off. Ha, ha, ha.

hillbilly 08-17-2008 6:22 PM

helix_rider 08-17-2008 6:29 PM

Keep your head up Shawn. I know it doesn't help the pain right now, but I think most here would choose broken bone over torn ligaments...silver lining, right? Best of luck with the surgery, looks like its time to get some DVDs to pass the time.

raequelhoffman 08-17-2008 6:36 PM

Get well soon Shawn! So sorry that happened to you in your first contest!!! Hope you recover quickly. Oh and if the anesthesia happens to make you sick when you wake up, eat some grapes it might help. Good luck!

walt 08-17-2008 6:59 PM

wakebrdmom 08-19-2008 8:28 PM

Shawn,

Hope you have a speedy recovery. Those breaks are hell. I know Allen B and I had similar breaks last year. I was fortunate that mine was not displaced and did not require surgery for the bones. It just sucked for 10 weeks without any weight bearing at all. Do as everyone says and do your rehab and don't try things before your really ready.

shon_g 08-20-2008 11:12 AM

Hey Buddy..Good luck in surgery today!!!

jfod 08-20-2008 11:42 AM

Shawn, If you haven't had lunch yet and you're not heading to surgery I have a cold twelver in the fridge. Sound good for lunch? Let me know, I'll be on my way.

jfod 08-20-2008 11:44 AM

Shawn, If you haven't had lunch yet and you're not heading to surgery I have a cold twelver in the fridge. Sound good for lunch? Let me know, I'll be on my way. If in surgery, best of luck! The sooner you get put back together the sooner the healing begins.

eargasm 08-20-2008 12:28 PM

Whats up everybody, hope everything is well.
Well today is Weds 8/20 my 5th day in the hospital. I'm still in the same bed from when I got here on Sat. waiting for surgery. My leg is still too swollen to do surgery. They say by the progress so far it should be ready in 10-12 days to operate. At this point I cannot move my leg more than couple inches without excruciating pain. The hospital insists on sending me home until the surgery. I tell them your Fu**ing crazy. I see this will be an insurance battle at the end. I will keep you all updated. Thanks again for all your support. Ride On.

shon_g 08-20-2008 12:37 PM

Dam Shawn!!! Sorry to hear that!

ldebbold 08-20-2008 1:04 PM

Sorry to hear you are still on hold. Hope it isn't really an insurance issue but more a question of what is medically appropriate for your condition. There are lots of good reasons not to be in a hospital if you don't need to be: resistant infections, bad food, noise, treatment mistakes (wrongs meds at the wrong time). Most hospitals now have discharge planners because the beds are needed,etc.. They can be really helpful sorting things out. Maybe getting a hospital bed temporarily at home, home nursing visits and such. Hopefully you've got family advocating for you. It is tough to take care of yourself when you're flat on your back and in pain. Good luck.

jarrod 08-20-2008 1:14 PM

ahhhhh dood....you're in hell!

Sorry man.

guido 08-20-2008 1:20 PM

Wow man.... bummer. You're definitely gonna need a bunch of cold Coors Light to get you through the next few days. I'd bring it by if I was a bit closer.

Good luck bro.

jarrod 08-20-2008 1:46 PM

Is there really nothing they can do to bring the swelling down? This sucks.

fatsac 08-20-2008 1:58 PM

Shawn - Just say the word and I'm wheeling you to Centerfolds!!

sacmule 08-20-2008 4:42 PM

Hang in there Shawn. Sorry this is such a clusterf%$# with the surgery and swelling.

ponte_06_x2 08-20-2008 5:41 PM

if you want shawn. i can get you a "nurse" that can keep your mind off the swelling and pain.

watersnake 08-21-2008 11:37 AM

Shawn, what the f are they thinking! send you home? dumbass's!! Bro, I'm close buy so if you have any loose ends or need anything deliverd to ya or taken care of out here let me know. dabell 08-22-2008 6:23 AM

Still waiting for surgery but again, you haven't posted for over a day here. Could it be that they took you into surgery yesterday? Hope things are getting better for you. I'll definitely have a few cold ones in your honor tonight with Ron and Ralph Smith {including family also}.

jarrod 08-22-2008 7:13 AM

yeah, give us an update Shawn

eargasm 08-22-2008 8:12 AM

Whats up guys, hope everyone is doing good.
Its Friday 8/22 day 7 of laying in this oh so comfortable hospital bed. The surgery team visited me late yesterday to inform me that surgery will be performed Tues. Sept. 2. I will be discharged today at noon to go home and be bed ridden for another 11 days. At this point the leg and knee is still pretty swollen but coming down slowly. For the most part Im able to control pain pretty well.It takes 125mg of Morphine and 160mg of Oxycodon a day to keep it under control. I am happy though that I get to spend the upcoming time at home and not in hospital bed. I will keep you all updated and thanks again for everybody's support. Be safe & Ride On.

eargasm 08-22-2008 8:32 AM

Friday Morning day 7

fatsac 08-22-2008 8:55 AM

Ya know Shawn, maybe a poker night or something to break the monotony?? The pain might be a bit much but would be fun.

redv215 08-22-2008 9:15 AM

That just looks wrong!!!!Take it easy Shawn and enjoy those meds

attila916 08-22-2008 2:31 PM

Are u sure the leg on the left is not the nurse laying next to you?jk
I saw Eargasm today and he appears to have lost some muscle mass. With a bum leg and all I think I could take him and make him tap out.
Gimme a ring this weekend If you need me to mix u up a protein shake Muscles!
Take care bud!

shon_g 08-22-2008 4:29 PM

h20diva 08-25-2008 10:01 AM

mendo247 08-25-2008 11:49 AM

DAMN!!! Thats crazy, hang in there!

helix_rider 08-25-2008 1:40 PM

AAGGGHHH. No more pictures unless its the nurses, please! I cringe with empathatic pain every time I think about what will happen when they go back in...and the leg is starting to knit. My sympathies man, glad to see you have a good support group out there.

ponte_06_x2 08-25-2008 1:50 PM

phantom5815 08-25-2008 4:41 PM

Wow. Can't believe they are making you wait 2wks for your surgery.
Never seen or heard of anyone out here having to wait that long. Of course your leg is going to be swollen you broke a long bone!!

Did they give you anything in case of an embolism?

eargasm 08-25-2008 8:11 PM

Stacy- Dont worry about the socks but thanks for looking. I got them at Perfomance in Orlando. I havent seen them out here either. Tell Gary hello for me and thanks again for everything youve done.

Phantom- What is embolism? They sent me home with so many meds not sure what does what anymore.

sacmule 08-26-2008 12:28 AM

An embolism is a blood clot that breaks loose, becomes mobile within the bloodstream and lodges elsewhere in the body. How's the swelling?

eargasm 08-26-2008 6:26 AM

Thanks Mike, yes they did give me shots to take everyday in the stomach to prevent that. Like a blood thinner. Swelling is coming down slowly, should be ready by next week.

attila916 09-03-2008 5:03 PM
