How do you get the drain plugs out? They both have knock sensors (unlike my 2004) which make it difficult to get a wrench around them. There is a small nut on top of the sensors doess thiss need to be removed?

Take the 1/2" nut off and let the knock sensor hang then a 1" wrench or socket to get the remainder of the plug out. I am going from memory on the size but the process will remain the same.

Thanks. The knock sensor on the 2004 was all one piece, no nut on top to remove and more accessible.

Yea the old one you just removed the wire and used a 7/8" to take it out. Starting in 06 they went to the new style knock sensors on both sides of the block instead of one like 05 and before.

Channel locks do the trick on my 05.

The knock sensors should be hand tight. That is all. When you put them back in, if you can not remove them with your bare hand they are 2 tight.....

I just removed mine this weekend. I disconnected the cable, put a crescent wrench on the big nut, broke the seal and removed it with the wire connector still on. It was on hand tight plus a little.

I had to complain about the hand tight thing because it seems like every one we have had to pull out this year when we did not have a large cresent wrench or something, was in to tight.
