85 nautique. I need to install packing in the rudder port. Do I coil one long piece of packing up or do I cut individual pieces that butt up together and just lay them on top of each other? I was thinking of cutting maybe 3 pieces of packing to fit. Anyone know the proper way to do it? Thanks..

individual pieces, that way, when you tighten down on it with the hollow nut, it packs tight instead of bunching. Cut one as a guide, so it fits around the shaft perfectly. Cut as many others as you need to fill your packing hollow. When you insert them, make sure the ends are not in a line, they should be opposite each other.

Hope this helps.
