Check this Craigslist ad...Do you think it's a scam? I think yes...

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/boa/450199906.html

It's also listed in San Diego, Sac, and a couple of other places. Ass

probably, but I'd email the guy anyway just to see what he says. it'll probably be something like " thank you for your interest in my boat. Unfortunately, I am currently in Singapore visiting a sick relative. If you could just wire me the money, I'll arrange to have the crated and shipped to you..."

showtime 10-15-2007 6:59 PM

that is exactly what they want you to do is e-mail them... if everyone would ignore them they would go away -- but it is obviously paying off somehow...

this was just posted in raleigh nc as well

the best is i saw pics of willytown's boat posted on my local c-list last week...

My dad has a saying 'a sucker is born everyday'. People actually fall for these adds. On MSNBC they did a report on these scams and it was surprising to see how many people fell for them.

razzman 10-15-2007 7:23 PM

The same ad has been placed for a '07 Malibu VLX and a '07 Moomba Outback, all hotmail email address with the same format everytime. Go ahead and email him for fun (i did to screw with him) and you'll get back an email that says "the boat is currently in storage in a shipping yard, i was taking it overseas but decided not to".

It's the same scam as always, some 10 year old kid in Liberia or somewhere in africa trying to hook a sucker.

malibuboarder75 10-15-2007 7:49 PM

I like the guys that say they have the boat in a crate in NY ready to ship. I wonder if they use UPS or Fedex and how much an oversize box costs.

Saw one on ebay awile back and told the guy i wanted it. It was a 06 X for 20k. He kept telling me to give him my ebay info. Funny thing though, when i told him i was flying out to Florida to pay in cash and take posision i never heard from him again. And a few weeks ago the same boat was on ebay again, except this time it was in Ohio. Same thing, guess these people dont want cash.....can't figure it out?

2007_x2 10-15-2007 10:13 PM

hey richard my buddy and i did the same thing with an X-2 same color as mine just the top deck was also pro-tour red we were sending emails back and forth and after a while we told him that we are going to fly out to check out the boat and he said that he moved but the boat was still in florida so we can fly down. i dont get how people fall for this stuff.
