Has anyone set one of these up yet? I'm going to tackle this in my boat this weekend, and trying to find some better instructions out there? It doesn't seem all that difficult, but curious who has done it before.

Not difficult at all. I decided to leave out the switch and just use the 7610 Relay unit only. So far so good, works like a champ. Should take probably about a half hour or so depending on your battery locations.

I just installed the Blue Sea ACR and a Perko switch so I could manually switch between batteries if needed. The switch with the Add a Battery kit just lets you combine batteries not switch to 1 or 2.

Well - I'm hoping to run accessories off one, and still keep the starting battery seperate. Running 3 amps right now, so I think the battery will go pretty damn quick if I'm sitting doing nothing....

So - no switch - I'll have to read more about it - - thanks for the advice!

I love this setup. I installed it this spring, and it is working great.
The "Add a Battery" has an isolater that automatically favors the motor battery. Once that hits 12.5v, it will start charging my stereo batteries. Unlike the Perko (Bat1, bat2, all, Off) no switching is necessary to get both banks charged. And if for some reason one of your banks goes bad, you can combine the banks to get enough power to fire up the boat.

Also on a Perko, if you forget to turn the dial, you may end up with a dead battery.

I also did not use the switch. I run only the 7610 Relay unit, the switch is still in the box. I am running one 12v battery for the motor and (2) 6v’s for my stereo. I have 3 amps at around 2500 watts total. Batteries are always full or close to, once I am off the water and test them.

Have a great summer!

But if you use the Perko along with the ACR it just gives you more options in case one battery goes bad or is extremely dead.
