You can always use the M2R code and receive an additional 25% off any price listed.

petertjr 01-20-2005 11:12 AM

whats the M2R code from? Anyone can use it to get 25% off?
solo 01-20-2005 11:17 AM

Yes, it's from our Mission2ride clinics last summer. Anyone can use it.

petertjr 01-20-2005 11:19 AM

The site says it expired

Chuck from Buy wake will honor it if you call them. Just tell them you went to a clinic.

Thanks, Steven. That's helpful and much appreciated, but I go back pretty far with Chuck, Lee and Eric. I normally would just call them, but they're harder to get on the phone these days given how large the business has grown. It's so much simpler just to order online and punch in a promo code for 10% off. Plus, I'm not in a position where I would feel good about telling them something that's not true, even if it meant saving more money. But thanks.

Anybody else? I know there must other active codes, because they emailed me one within recent weeks, I just can't find it right now.

I love how these internet sites basically pull the business away from the local shops. It's different if you live out in the middle of nowhere and have no recource for boards but if you live in an area that has some shops that stand behind the local scene...for the sake of the sport, give them your business.
I don't think buywake has ever come down here to So-Cal and put on a local event that I can remember.
I worked for a big store here in LA that sold wake and gave absolutley nothing back to it... I always told people to go elsewhere.. That's what makes our sport grow is the local shops, and their events... If we all start buying off the internet, the local shops don't make money, in turn there goes our events.
Whew, let me get down from my soapbox.
Chuck is a good guy and see what you mean.

SoCal,

Chuck and they guys from BuyWake do sponsor local and Pro events. They give a huge amount back to this sport.

Socal, point well taken, and agreed in concept. You've made that point before, BTW. But for me, Buywake is a "local" shop. I started working with Ambush (the parent company) back when they first opened a 12' wide store front in a strip mall in a space that previously had been a nail salon. They have almost single-handedly grown the Atlanta scene, and now are pumping huge amounts of money into wakeboarding at the national level. And they always have taken great care of me personally. These are good people, they take care of their customers, they support progression within the industry, and they have earned my business and endorsement. I agree wholeheartedly with supporting the local shops, but there is only one shop I have found in NorCal (Milo Sport in Lafayette) that can match the quality of service and respect that Ambush/Buywake has provided me over the years.

Now about that promo code... Nobody can help?
I'll just phone them if I need to, but geez... I thought this would be a simple request.

Doctor Octagon,

Here you go.

There is one in the latest issue of WB Mag for 10%, March issue. Promo code is WBM.

You make some good points...many websites do support their local scene and are instrumental in growing the sport and doing innovative things. Among other things, Buywake has put on some very creative contests. And, like Buywake, most reputable websites are connected to a brick and mortar store, which is often the "local store" for someone.

Josh

Thanks Josh, I already phoned Buywake a little while ago and worked something out, but I appreciate your help and your words. I recall meeting you at some of the AWA events in AZ, and I know that your shop also is very well respected. Thanks, again!

"I worked for a big store here in LA that sold wake and gave absolutley nothing back to it... I always told people to go elsewhere.. "

You worked for a store while telling people to go elsewhere with a line about the ethics of who to buy from. I'm not bashing you, just laughing at the irony.

This could get ugly.

This thread has served it's purpose and should now just die a peaceful death.

Thanks, all.
