I have a Canon 580 flash for My camera but found a great deal on a couple of older Canon flash's (430ez & 540EZ).

I know they won't work with a DSLR but was wondering if they would work as Slaves with My 580 ?

umm that doesnt help at all unless you wanna spend $400ish on pocketwizards.

correct me if im wrong, but did you wanna use the 580 itself to trigger the 430ez and 540ez flashes using their built-in infrared thingy? i would check online to make sure the two EZ flashes will be able to do that. i do believe, however, that the EZ flashes arent TTL metering, so they'll basically only work as manual flashes (you'll have to manually set the strength/brightness of the flash, etc).

this is all basically on "I THINK" status. if anyone knows anything for sure that can correct me then please do so. there's more than enough information online to figure this out, though. just punch in 430EZ into google with some other words and im sure you'll get info that way.

Don't know if you found your answer yet, but here's something from 2005. It's a short thread similar to your question.

http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00DtdR&tag=
