- - Martinez Lake Full of Weeds?? (http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191565)

We went to Martinez this past weekend. Both the marina and the lake were full of "weeds". At first I thought the river must be low, but judging by the shoreline it didn't appear low. The water in the marina was so full of weeds my prop could hardly get a bit. I was at Martinez three weeks ago and there were only a few patches. Has anyone else seen this?

-- John
yeah there is some type of non native grow that was actually a big project a few years ago to try and get rid of(so i was told). i ride out there all the time without any problems. check your water intake to make sure it doesnt get clogged and perhaps your impeller(though i never have). anyway the weeds are harmless.

Is it Hydrilla growing in the marina and lake?

-- John
yeah i believe that is what it is called. there is far more in the lake( i assume you are talking about the lake that everyone rides not martinez) than in the marina(atleast fishers i dunno about the martinez landing since i havent put in there in a few months). its not the stuff with the stickers on it, it is the other type of weed. im not sure of the prickly weed. i had a crap load of it around my prop shaft last time i rode. however im much more worried about the three fingers and a log i saw around the first finger(as you head into the lake) than those weeds. i have seen 2 boats this year hit the third finger.

I'm call "the lake" the area off to the left as you enter from the river. I call "the marina" the Martinez landing area with the launch ramp and docks.

I went into the lake twice this past weekend and didn't see the three fingers or log you are referring to? I did lose my prop to a log in Martinez about a month ago. I was near the east side of the lake, going about 25 when I hit the log. I thought I was far enough away from the trees sticking out of the water. Apparently not!

-- J.
