Pledge
Wow it really works. Spray Pledge all over your boat and it will not get a single water spot and wipe down is a breeze... I sound like a salesman here but, I tried it and was amazed! You look like a spaz on the ramp spraying your boat with Pledge but oh well you look like a champ during wipe down... try it!
Which pledge do you use? Does it strip the wax or have any bad effects? Does it take off existing water spots too?
Multi Pledge of course! I suppose it would put a layer of wax on your boat and leave it lemony fresh too. I do use pledge on my stainless and granite in the kitchen. Just the same I think I'll stick with Babes BB and/or Meguires Flagship spray wax.
It did not strip my wax off and yes it did take other spots off.... If anytthing My boat felt more waxed with it on... I used Clean cented (white can) Pledge bought at the grocery store. Keep off the windows the best you can. And it does mist on to the trailer so it keeps your trailer clean too.
a friend of mine swear by using a mix of lemon pledge, vinegar and water. I tried it and I'm back to Babes.....although I just ran out of Babes Hard spot remover and tried the Meguires and I think the Meguires is better!!!
I do agree with babes mequires and boat bling all work incredible! But usinge vinegar wilil strip the wax off and smells like ass... and when I have used spray waxes and other products I still get spots... I have yet to find a "hard water spot" remover that really works... besides a clay bar.. but now Pledge works soo well I do not have to clay bar my baot after every use.. on and I am extremely anal about my boat so literally I clay bar and wax my boat after every single time it goes in the water. I am to the point where I lay down bedding before I put the cover on so the cover does not touch any part of the upholstry. But now that I have started using pledge I dont have to clay bar after every use... the Misses loves that too...

When you finish polishing your boat with Pledge, I have an 4500 square foot house full of furniture you can come over and clean too. :)

yeah i have 4500 sq. ft. too. You count your yard too right? |
lol nice comeback there! Zing!!!
Its a double wide right...? =)
as a former wrench at a bike shop, pledge also works great for cleaning bicycles. Interesting thought to try on boat. May just have to give that a shot.
While you are trying everything under the kitchen sink on your boat let me save you some grief, DO NOT USE BORAX AND A BRILLO PAD!!! It gets rid of the water spots, but leaves swirls all over...
^^^*****, now you tell me!
Too funny.... years ago we used to use Pledge to clean our street bikes. Worked great. I suppose it would work for boats too!
We used to use pledge at the boatshows on our boats. Works great and smells good too.
Is anyone else getting a vision of consweyla from Family guy walking around the ramp asking for more lemon pledge?
^^ha ha yes

i have used lemon pledge for two seasons now and it works great. It is kinda funny though because at the ramp downwind from the boat it smells lemony fresh....:D
so you guys are using it to prevent spots or remove them. i use babes for removal. but a preventer would be nice
Actually, I have noticed it took off old waterspots and prevented new spots. I had a lifeguard come up to me the other day and ask what the hell am I doing. You also do not need to use and product during wipe down, just wipe of the pledge. Although a good coat of Hot Sauce never hurt at all.
I just use it every time we pull the boat. Seems to cut down on water spots on the next trip out and makes it shine for the trip home too.
tried it out seemed to work pretty good thanks for the tip.
I just started using vinegar this season and It works great! I'll try the lemon pledge. Jet

so you spray it before, like right before you drop it in? rub it in with a towel? does it just kinda sit on the surface all day, slippery like? Also try using one of those absorber towels, the shammies that dry hard, during wipe down. just make sure you squeez most of the water out and they work AWESOME. I dont even bring towels to the lake anymore :D 10 bucks at autozone, cut it in half and your solid. just make sure its the absorber brand, other ones arent the same material. |
