my son has grown up seeing his dad and friends all boarding and he's so interested in it. Sunday he told me that he wants a wakeboard and ready to try. Anyone have suggestions on what board to get him? He weighs about 34lbs soaking wet...also any suggestions on a helmet? Mom won't let him board without on and I'm affraid I can't allow his elmo bike riding helmet on my boat ;0).

thanks for any suggestions

I had a liquid force nemesis for my young son. I believe its the smallest. My 2 cents no helmet. Increase the drag on the fall. I am interested to hear what others have to say.

I agree with Bobby. It could cause a neck injury, where as if you just pull him really slow, he is way less likely to get hurt.

(Message edited by dperizzolo on June 03, 2009)

I agree with the LF Nemesis. It has been my sons board since he was about 40 lbs.

When he learns, the speeds will be so slow (under 10 mph), that a helmet doesnt seem terribly useful.

I would say that the easiest way to teach him is to get up on a boom if possible. This keeps him right close to the boat where you can coach him.

This is my son on a short rope connected to a boom.

If you ride on a river that can have debris in it, such as logs and sticks, a helmet isn't a bad idea.

LF Nemesis is a good choice probably has the best boots. Hyperlite Motive package isn't bad either...

The LF nemisis comes in a 111cm, which is smaller than some wakeskates. I sell tha package a good amount to families with 6 and under year olds

The Nemesis is a great board for kids, my boys riding progressed at a very fast rate when he got his.

The LF Micros are going to be the most comfortable most likely.

Wicked!

Having gone through this before, I absolutely recommend the Nemesis board with the LF Micro bindings. The bindings are incredibly easy for 4 year olds to get into and out of themselves and are advanced enough that they can be worn up to the point of learning inverts. My 11 year old, who started riding when he was 4, still rides the Nemesis although he has progressed out of the Micros into Phillip's bindings.

The smallest board we got is a 109 and that should be fine for the next few years.

http://www.hyperlite.com/product/142082/KUMSPKG/_/Motive_with_Sprint_Boots
