is there a way to remove this and cap it off in the 04 x-star? Any help is appreciated.

Bryan, <BR>I don't know if you can remove it. Is it bothering you? You do realize that the ski pylon is a $980 option on an Xstar. The next owner might want it. I bought it for mine, but I don't use it except to tube (yes I used the "T" word.) I have only used it twice for some real little kids that could not wake, knee or ski.
