How many miles has people had on there new 2007 Dodge with the 5.9 Diesel engine with the 4 speed transmission............Does anyone know if putting a chip in the truck if it will void warranty ??

The 48RE is a good transmission that hasn't had any re occuring problems don"t be afraid of it. Putting a chip in won't necesarily void the warranty but if the problem can be lead back to the chip then they wont warranty the issue.

Just sold one with 14K miles on it, towed the boat all over the place. No problems or issues.

I was told that if you take the chip out of the truck before you take it in with a blown tranny haha that the service dept cant trace the problem back to the chip because the chip is not able to be tracked

Does the dodge go good with the Edge with attitude Chip or BullDog

I would go with a Smarty by Mads Electronics. 9 different programs you can load. Much better than Bullydog or go with the Edge Juice with Attitude then you would have gauges too and down the road you can stack them for even more power but you will need a built tranny for that. I heard the exact opposite of john prine, something similar to hate n pain. The old pre 2002 trannys had problems. I have heard of three blown dodge trannys, and they all had chips, hmmm.

Once you start adding power something has got to give and on the dodges that is most oftenly the tranny the 48re is a good tranny but once you start adding 100+ horsepower things will break. I agree with mb tom the mads programmer is the best for the dodge.

The 48re transmission is much better than the 47re. I would recommend caution with whatever you do. I did injectors through my local dealer and haven't had a problem with the tranny (yet). I put on a bigger tranny pan and gauges to monitor how it's doing. The bigger tranny pan will give it more fluid to keep the torque converter cooler which is supposed to help. <BR> I've recently added the bullydog PMT to the truck and am happy so far. It's added a bit more hole shot to the truck. Still on the stock tranny, but I know if I really get on it I am risking tearing it up. If you are going to start playing with chips and such you really should keep in mind no truck manufacturer makes a transmission to hold up too much past stock. If the power is pushed more when the torque converter is locked you have a better chance of saving tranny. (or so I'm told) <BR> It is really cool what can be done to a diesel these days. <BR>To each his own on the programmer. The bullydog has been pretty good to me. I had triple dog on my 03 and the PMT has more options to personalize the truck so it works for me. <BR>Good luck

John they can tell exactly when you put in the chip and when it was removed. The computer's in the cars today are akin to black boxes on air planes. Do not chip it until after your warranty is up then just pray it doesn't F anything up.

I am running 40" tires on my 06 with about 150 hp extra with programmers and water/methanol kit. The truck has 25k miles on the stock tranny. If you respect the tranny it will last. If you treat it like a hot rod, it won't be long before your replacing it. Have had buddies whos tranny only lasted 12k miles, but thats because they beat on their trucks. It's all about how you use the truck

Jason, with 150 extra HP on a stock trans it is just a matter of time no matter how you baby it. Stock trans can hold about 60 max extra HP. If you want it to last put in a good torque converter and valve body to raise line pressure. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by tcaton on December 04, 2007)

I know I am on borrowed time, I have a built tranny and converter on order. Just hate changeing something that ain't broke yet! lol

Tranny was the first to go in for me now I cant stop with the mods. Up to 678 HP now. Once you get the new trans in you will think your driving a different truck they work so much better.

What do you use these trucks for? curious.

Tom. What injectors are you runnin and what LPM'S or size are they? Also what has been done to your motor to support 678 rear wheel horsepower and what was the model of the dyno that you made that power on? Just tryin to figure out some combo's for a sled pulling truck I may build. steve

fargh... that's fast. I love diesels. I've left mine alone so far. I'm hesitant to start that modding slide. LOL!!! It's a bad habbit I have. Once it starts it doesn't stop till I drain the bank account.

that would be one of the fastest 4x4's in the united states. You race for DHRA? Whats your 60 foot time? I can only seem to manage a 12 sec flat quarter mile, but I have 37 inch tires while I race. the s300 s400 combo is Pdr's towing twin setup. What tranny you have? Gotta be a DTT? You should enter a tough truck competition like we do. Sled pull, dyno, drag race, 10,000 lb trailer drag race 1/8 mile, and a mileage test. You would do great!

Get rid of the 37s and your time will go down and not even close to the fastest in the US.

Any recommendations with my dilemma? I got greedy and tranny is now on last leg! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0> The way I see it I have two options. one I can replace the tranny completely, or I can get new valve body, torque converter, and shafts. Bondo or tcaton, any advice or ideas? If I completely detune my pmt to stock or tow mode tranny ok, but any more than that the converter slips. No told you so's cause I new it was coming. My service dealer will warranty the labor if I want to put beefier parts in the old tranny.

If I was you I would go talk to Rip at Source Automotive since you are in Vancouver he can check your trans out and then make recomendations but a complete rebuild with shafts will be in the 6k range. Unless you are above 600 HP and plan on doing boosted 4 wheel launchs I would only get a billet input shaft. Build it once! Build it right, but also make sure that the truck is something you are gonna keep for a long time or else you'll never get the full value out of a fully billet tranny. I recommend suncoast and DTT. Rip is a good guy and will most likely give you great service, make great turbos setup. Steve
