I have been having good luck with the Flip Ultra HD with the waterproof housing. You can be up and running with 720p for around $200. Check out my latest little video creation shot with the Flip:

<object width="400" height="300"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=12933316&amp;server=vimeo.co m&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_port rait=0&amp;color=&amp;fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=12933316&amp;server=vimeo.co m&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_port rait=0&amp;color=&amp;fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="300"></embed></object><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/12933316">wakeboardSTL - Freeze Frame - Chance Bixby</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user2989938">John Pretti</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

I'm no pro editor or filmer, just having some fun, but this will at least give you an idea.

I have a regular flip, works real well and is super simple to use. Nice for a general use camera. If you plan on mounting a camera on a board, helmet, or on the boat for surfing, I would go with the Vholdr. The go pro is cheaper but the Vholdr is better. both hav HD options

im talking bout like a top of the line video camera like from the boat or shore video.

alevitt 07-07-2010 2:32 PM

You want top of the line? Try this: http://www.red.com/cameras/
Or there's the standard that everybody seems to use: http://www.panasonic.com/business/pr...x200/index.asp

sidekicknicholas 07-07-2010 2:53 PM

this is the first thing I shot with it.... its 720p (make sure you change it to 720p)

Nick, with the Playsport, can you do screen shots or pull out frames like you can the flip?

Sorry for the highjack.
