Has anybody ever added a ladder onto their swimstep? I have a 2003 Malibu Wakesetter VLX and my parents hate getting into the boat via the swimstep. They say they always feel like a beached whale rolling onto it.

Preferably if there's something that could fold underneath the swimstep when not in use.

Get them on the p90x thread! Seriously tho, I dont see why it cant be done, have you looked on boatersworld.com or anything? There must be something on there that would help you, might have to fab some brackets or something.

You could try this:
http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=36982&pdesc=Windline_Telescoping _Under_PlatformTwo_Step_Ladder_26H&cname=Boat-Ladders&aID=25S&merchID=1009&r=view

http://www.bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=1034

try this it is the cleanist install i have seen. a little spendy but worth it.

maybe they are old so that's why they have a tough time with it.

But i have to ask, because people new to my boat do it all the time...are they using the "bump your butt up on there" method. Or are they trying to crawl on the platform frontways??

if they have the arm strength having them turn around backwards with their palms flat on the platform and bump themselves up onto the platform is much easier than trying to grab the handle and get up on your stomach...

Get em a gym membeship instead...those ladders dont make it that much easier to get in the boat.
|
This is what I plan to do as I don't want anything disturbing the wake on the bottom of the swimstep when surfing.
http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=35048&pdesc=EZ_On_Jet_Step_Flexi ble_Ladder&cname=Ladders&aID=10N&merch ID=1009&r=view

packrat you wont like that step shins get beat all up. Centurion for 09 is putting on Aqua steps
www.aquaperformance.com
|
Wow. I knew I came to the right place for tips.

I'll have to show them the bakesonline.com step. That looks easy to install and will still be out of the way of the wedge.

We have enough family that come out on the boat that will not be in good enough shape to really pull themselves up, or even the turnaround bump up method. Mind you, these people arent wakeboarding, but simply getting into the water for tubing or just to have a little swim. But in the past they've skipped that because they dont like dealing with the swimstep.

more ballast and drop the platform in to the water about 12"
|
The aqua performance product looks like a nice setup. Wonder how well it will stand-up to regular use. Would look into this for a winter project.
|
Yeah seriously fill the ballast tanks up, it will make the bump up method super easy. if you have a teak platform it will be nearly underwater.
|
wont you get drag?
