Sanger v215 sub placement?
Is anyone running a 12" woofer under the helm in their Sanger 215? I have a 12 on the passenger side but when I open the seat the bass doubles so I really want to find a way to get my sub under the drivers feet. The problem is the damn fiberglass footrest.

Yeah, I'm running a 12 inch kicker in a sealed box. You just need to unscrew the fiberglass seat base and pull it out to put your box back there. There's room for a 1.5 cu ft back there easily. My box is around 1.3 cu ft and there is still a bit more room. I actually just did away with the fiberglass base and put in a pedestal.

I have two 10's under the helm of my V215 and Coop has a single L7 15 under the helm of his but we both cut the base a little to make it fit. Of I were to redo it I'd do a single 12 in a bass reflex enclosure.

Preston, Does your seat still move forward and backward with the pedestal? That's a pretty cool idea!

Where did you pick up the swivel seat and how hard was the install?
|
Wow Preston that looks clean. I've never pulled the fiberglass pedestal out but is it just solid carpet under it? Did you have to do any carpet work to cover anything up that is usually covered by the fiberglass?

No need for carpet, when you take the pedestal out, the floor is carpeted. But the small piece under the vinyl (under the speaker) would need to be added. There is a gap there when you take the fiberglass pedestal off - I took mine off for the stereo install. That pedestal is a cool idea though for sure.

Getting one!love the height thing being I'm only 5' nothin.
|
What is the easiest way to run the speakers wire from under the dash to the passengers storage compartment.
|
Ryan I have a sub box that will fit under the helm with a kicker sub you don't have to cut the seat base at all pm me if your interested
|
Craig- I think the best way is to run everything up around the inside of the nose.
|
The website shows 4 different models, which one is the correct one? Also you got any pics and steps for the install, how easy was it to pull out the base and was it carpeted under it? Thanks
|
I just pulled mine for the first time and it was simple. Remove the 4 screws that look like they are holding down the carpet at your feet, then remove the 4 nuts under the seat pad holding the seat to the fiberglass setup, then remove the single screw that sits under the seat. All are Phillips and you can then pick the unit up as one piece.
Then you have a ton of room to get back there. |
Craig, you can run it through the ski locker. There is likely already wires running over there
|
Craig,I took the speaker out that is right under the observer seat and drilled 2" hole behind it for my rcas and speaker wire.

I have a 2007 v215, and it looks like it'd require a great deal of work to get to a seat like this. I'm interested in the conversion, but mine has these fiberglass brackets on the sides that the seat clamps into to allow it to move forward and backward. I don't know if they're molded onto the floor or not, but does anyone know if this conversion is possible?
|
Bumping this up for a few more answers on the seat modification.
My 05 v215 doesn't have the booster on the seat and it's a tad too short for me. Want to do the conversion, what height did you guys choose? |
I never did it because I couldn't get anymore info from anyone. Let me know if you find out more info

Bump! Would really like to do this. That website link doesn't work for me. Would a pedestal off a bass boat work?
|
Let's bring this back up to the top once more. I am ready to order a pedestal to replace this damn bobsled sanger puts in.
I'm just looking for some height reference. As my boat does not have the bolster seat. I want to be able to adjust the pedestal to see over the windshield when needed. If not I'll just pull out the ol tape measure and be the guniea pig |
By chance can anyone with a pedestal in any of their boats, doesn't have to be a v215 specific, get me the base height, and then the extended height on theirs?
|
This is the seat base I installed in mine. I did, however, modify it. I cut it down about 3-4 inches. I went this route because it was cheap and was an experiment.

If I remember correctly, the stock height is around 7 inches.
|
Pedestal is on the way fellas. Ill post some info to it when it shows up and I get it finished.
This should be MUCH better for towing a rider and not having to jimmy something up, or sit on the edge of the boat to see over the windshield. This is the one I picked up, seems to be the same as Preston's. Adjustable height, and swivel $89.99 free shipping at overtons http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...destal&i=28277 |
Not sure if you ever ended up installing the pedestal. Shortly before trading in my V215 I had installed this pedestal.
http://www.springfieldgrp.com/produc...stay-1250252-l I had a cheap pedestal before that, this one was really nice, hydraulic adjustable, slide, swivel. I picked mine up in their scratch and dent section for a little over $100. Required a hole through the deck, but was awesome being able to quickly adjust the height of the seat. |
Has anyone else done the pedestal seat mod yet? Is there any issues with the amount of floor support against possible stress? I am looking at a 6" wise or Garelick seat pedestal to mount to my swivel base, but want to know if the 8" round pedestal base can be simply screwed into the deck without further reinforcement.
I am not happy with that Bob sled of a seat base taking up so much room as to limit my ability to install a 1.5 ft ported enclosure. |
I did. Love it

Screwed it in with lags and called it. Lasted all of last summer and so far good this summer with no issue.
|
Same as Jmorlan, just lag bolted the pedestal base down. Was good for 2 seasons without any issues.
|
I ordered a Wise 6" fixed height pedestal. $63! Should have it bolted in by Tuesday night. That bob sled of a setup will be gone! Losing the 1 cup holder is worth it.
