Sanger Gauges Won't Work- HELP
I have a 2001 Sanger. I kept my boat in my garage all winter and when I pulled it out I noticed that non of my gauges are working. The boat starts and my stereo is working which makes me think it is something wrong with maybe the ground or the power to the device that controls all the gauges since they are all out? Any idea's would be helpful.

Brian, I had the same problem with my calabria. It turned out to be the computer box. I do believe that sanger and calabria us a computer brain made by Medalion Insterments(not sure about the spelling) google it. you can order from them. you just need to find it and get the part number off of it. they build on demand and it takes 2-3 weeks. Do you have perfect pass? does it work?

Maybe a bad ground or positive at the bus bar that provides power for the gauges?

I am betting your boat has a MDC-1600 sending unit in it. We have a 2000 supra that had the exact same problem. This unit was put in damn near every manufacturer's boat made around 2000. I know off the top of my head it was in supra, moomba, malibu, and mastercraft. Check and see if you have this piece if you do the cheapest place I found scouring the web and calling dealers is
http://www.bayareawatersports.com/ $242 shipped. Local dealer wanted $450 for it. |
Bruizza- you beat me to it. I went to go and look on my bill and yes It is MDC-1600 is the model number but each boat has a seperate P/N on the side of the MDC-1600.

the only difference in the numbers from what we could find was the letter at the end. They all seem to have the same 11 digits but the letter is different. We were told the letter is just a revision but it should work in all manufacturers boats. Hopefully that is the case but I can't say it is a fact.

thanks for your help. Yes it is a MDC-1600.

Check your other options first so you know that that is exactly what you think the problem is. We have the exact same problem with ours, replaced the mdc 1600 and still nothing. Cost $270 for us, straight from Medallion. Now we are up one module and still down a working dash. However it very well could fix your problem. Like Bruizza said, around 2000 Medallion was having a number of problems with there mdc 1600 module due to water getting into the air hoses and then into the module. Not a problem until it freezes. The fix: well many guys found that it was best to just unscrew it and bring in the house during the winter months.

I was able to fix it using the following link. http://www.epicmarine.com/docs/MDCtrouble.PDF
it is a great resource to pin point your issue. good luck. Brian |
So what happened to be your issue?
|
It turned out to be the inline fuse that has power when the ignition is turned on. The fuse looked ok but when i tested it it was blown. Have you checked your inline fuses with a meter and not visually?
|
no, that is probably going to be our next step.
