Just saw on the news that Delta is going to Charge $175 for surfboards and skis EACH WAY! That's $350. Wonder if they'll lump wakebards into that group too? I think they also said to check a second bag is $50 each way!

I think the news report is misleading. Delta has always charged for surf boards. Fee raised from $150 to $175 each way. Skis are not the same. <BR> <BR>The problem with wakeboards is that some agents want to call it a surf-board and charge the fee. This has been discussed several times this year. <BR> <BR>My son was charged $80 returning from Miami but then was not even asked a question on the Phoenix or Reno trips. <BR> <BR>Golf clubs are still free if under 50 pounds. <BR> <BR>Here is the Delta website info on snow equipment. <BR> <BR>One item of ski or snowboard equipment is accepted as the passenger's one free checked bag. <BR> <BR>One item of ski or snowboard equipment is defined as: <BR> <BR>One ski/pole bag or one snowboard bag, and <BR>One boot bag <BR>The combined weight of the ski/snowboard bag and the boot bag may not exceed 50 pounds or excess baggage fees will apply. The outside linear dimensions may exceed 80 inches and no excess baggage fees will apply.

You can get away with it if you are flying with a wakeboard normally. United's website says they charge $100 for wakeboards but I just flew roundtrip to TSR 2 weeks ago and they never questioned what was in my wakeboard bag. Just make sure its under 50 lbs and you will be fine.
