Was told the vinyl in the Supras this year is something new. It feels different and it's pretty sweet, but I've found it mildews real easy and the stain won't come out. I've tried all of the manufacturers recommendations and Magic Eraser removes a lot of stuff, but not all of them. Anyone have any recommendations? Last time it was at the dealer, they had a vinyl guy look at it and the only way he could get them out was dying the affected stain. Boat is always aired out when it comes off the lake, but they still appear.

starbrite

simple green doesn't work? Everything scrubs out of mine with simple green and a scrubbing brush.
Haven't tried Starbrite or Simple Green. Simple Green is on the list of things not to use by the manufacturer. I think it's more of a rotting the stitching issue. If you haven't had a problem though, I give it a shot. Where can I get Starbrite from?

any seats would mildew if they are covered wet?
Sean, that's just it. When the boat comes off of the lake and hits my property, everything is opened up and sun dried until it goes in the garage. It's never covered, let alone wet.
is it mildewing on top or underneath, if ontop of the seats try 303. sometimes if it is under, maybe it was wet from ballast or and ice chest. check that.
It's mostly between the cushions. Used to own an '04 Moomba Mobius and I took care of that boat the same way and never had a mildew problem. This is a different type of vinyl though. Feels more like leather.
Did you try Magic Eraser and Fantastic together? That seems to get everything out of mine.
Eric, tried that and didn't touch it. Also tried the magic eraser with the ammonia and hydrogen peroxide mix the manufacturer recommended. Nothing.
Man if that won't do it, I can't imagine anything that will take it off.
hmmm not sure... I have not had that problem... if it is between the cushions are you pulling each cushion and wiping then and in between? Where are you storing it? Sure there is no moisture in there?
Diggs, they are like brown looking coffee stains. Boat is always wiped down when it's pulled out, the cushions are removed and it's aired out and the boat is always garage stored. Simple Green and Starbrite were mentioned. Anyone else tried those?

I know i will get flagged/flamed for this but I have used Simple Green in a diluted form for over 9 years on my boat. And yes.. i know it is not on the "approved list". My boat has the original interior and is still soft to the touch. I have had a couple of seams come apart but i will put the blame of that on use, people stepping on cushions, sitting on cushions, etc (the boat is a 95 model). I will add that i do rinse the entire boat down real well after cleaning with Simple Green to minimize any residue.

(Message edited by BIZ on August 14, 2006)
