New rope help

So my default tow line just got split by the prop, and today was my first day using a new tow rope. It was a cheap one but it was a wakeboarding rope, and it felt awful. I dont know if it was the tow rope, but I couldn't predict anything with it. Most times I yank the rope before I pop off the wake. But this rope would simply stretch when I yanked it, sending me airborne out of control with an uncomfortable feel in the air. However, when I yanked the rope so hard I got some slack my buds said I got more air than ever before.

Anyone have any advice about using this rope or buying a new one? There must be someone out there who has had this same problem

Thanks!

can you post a pic or link or exact name of the rope.

i have seen some ropes marketed as "wakeboard ropes" that were nothing more than a ski rope with a handle that was more of a wakeboarding handle (not rubber grip but EVA)

probably bought a poly-e line with low stretch... you've got 3 setups and don't know the difference between dyneema and spectra or poly-e?

I know what dyneema is I love that but it got split by my damn prop day 1. Poly e isn't that like "low stretch" which Is bad because you want no stretch?

And here's the link to my crappy rope :

Oh **** its from Kmart I'm already mad at myself for buying this

while the description states "wakeboarding rope", that is NOT a no-stretch wakeboard rope.

Do you have a usable handle? If so, I would search for a no-stretch mainline.

Phalanx is still having a sale on their's. http://www.phalanxwake.com/wp/products/mainline-rope/

Dude thanks I've been looking for a dyneema line for less than 90 bux!! But wait.. Do you know of anyone who's used those because I'm not too familiar with phalanx but it looks like a legit good deal

And umm yea I have a decent obrien handle with a vinyl no stretch line on it... I'm throwing that Kmart rope away now!

I just got a phalanx rope and handle in last week and forgot to use it this past weekend. Im still fond of my ronix rope and handle, but I will definitely try it this weekend. It looks like a good rope.

Riley get the phalanx set up. I just got a couple things from them. Great guys and crazy honest. I paid way more for a much shorter rope. Great deal go get it!!

There was another thread regarding the Phalanx sale, about their vests. People were talking about their stuff in a pretty positive light. I wouldn't hesitate if I was in need of something.

Here you go, coated mainline for less than 90

Yea I'm sort of in need of a new tow rope and it looks like a good one! Buying it tonight probably

I would go with an Accurate Jacket mainline. They float, so there is a lesser chance of getting it caught in the prop.
