Hi Guys,
I have a Battery Tender Plus. I puts out 1.2A. I'd like to use it to maintain 2 identical batteries (Optima Blue Tops) over the winter. I'm planning to wire the batteries in parallel (pos to pos, neg to neg) and hooking up the Tender to pos of one batt and neg of other batt.
My questions are:
1. Is my wiring correct?
2. Can this Tender handle the job?
Thanks in advance.

A battery tender is just fine for maintenance. I wouldn't be concerned with the winter application. It could also be a permanent solution for a starting battery only.

But for maximum battery longevity I would get a 20 amp multi-stage dual-bank distribute-on-demand marine AC charger before you begin deeply discharging a stereo battery next season. ProMariner, for example.

Use the charger immediately upon storage rather than a day before going out.

You might get 4 or 5 good years of prolonged play time out of your Optimas this way.

David
Earmark Marine
