Funny thing is Sangers don't even need any weight to look slumped. Is there a boat out there with lower freeboard?

You are definitely right but its hard to get away from the racing heritage Sanger has which is where the low freeboard comes from I'm sure . Which is the reason nothing else handles as well as a Sanger either .

MB has a few design cues that I'm sure remain only because of MB himself too.

Me too. Awesome boats. bought mine because I read such great reviews on this site. does everything I want it to and more.

I just bought a 2014 V327 LTZ! We are picking it up in a few weeks and heading to Phoenix to get it on the water. It has the factory ballast system with small hard tanks in each rear locker, and the original owner added additional pumps and another 250 lb bag in each locker. Does anyone know how big a ballast bag will fit into the V237 rear compartments with the hard tanks? I'd really like to maximize my "Slumpling"

with tanks? not sure. without they hold 1100s. I guess you could leave the hard tanks and put a 750 on top. you'd be leaving some weight on the table as I'm sure it won't hold as much without the tank in there. yank 'em out man.

I've got the same boat and don't think you will get much in the locker with the 400 lb hard tanks left in.
The tanks run along the side of the locker and with all the paneling in place the lockers are pretty small. I'm just about finished removing the hard tanks and putting in 910 lb bags.

The dimensions of the bags I got are 40" long x 25" wide x 20" tall. I haven't filled them yet, but it doesn't look like a bigger foot print would fit. The lockers are a bit strange, with quite a bit of room above and behind the pumps. I'll probably tuck some lead in there to get around 1000 lbs in each locker. I'm planning to get around 600 lbs of lead, most which will go in the bow because there is very little space for water ballast up there.

I'll take a few pictures next time I'm at the boat.

I'd recommend pulling the tanks too, there is so much wasted space with the configuration of the hard tanks. I had to cut them half to get them out, but it wasn't too bad. Get bags and hook'em up to the stock pumps and the additional pumps the previous owner put in for faster fill/drain times.

with tanks, bags would put WAY too much pressure on divider walls if it did work. best to pull them. you can work the tanks out, but its not easy.

40x25x20 bags sounds like 750s. just put lead underneath them

My mistake on the bag dimensions, 45 x 25 x 20 listed at 910 lbs from Wakemakers.

Have you pulled tanks the 400 lb hard tanks from a 2014 V237? They extend 12-18" beyond the end of the locker under the back rest of the corner seat. There is a bulkhead (that didn't seem movable) that prevented much movement of the hard tank. To me, it didn't even seem close. I'm curious because I puzzled over it for quite some time but didn't see it happening without removing significant parts of the boat.

Anyway, the plumbing part was straight forward and I'm looking forward to spring to see the difference.

you may be right on the bag, just an odd size.

Not from a 237, but I pulled both from my 230. yes the tanks extend back toward the transom. pull the wall divider and all carpeted covers, brackets, etc. remove the gas strut from the hatch cover as well.

Great looking work! What was your method on getting rid of the oxidation? Assuming some sort of wet sand and polish?

One question though re the oxidiation? When you get rid of it, how long does it last before it comes back? On my V210 the black in particular is bad. I polish it up and get it looking nice, and then 5 months later its bad again...

I wish I could say that I did the gel coat work myself but I hired it out to Vancouver Marine Refinishing once I had all the hardware removed and realized how much work and how technical it was going to be! Those guys are pros and got the job done quickly and efficiently. "its almost summer and i'd rather be on it than working on it!"
They didn't do any wet sanding on the oxidation areas; just a couple rounds of cut polish and then wax it up. Waxing is key to keeping the gel coat from oxidizing.

Got a bunch more things things to do before she's ready for the season yet though. Sanded and Teak oiled the grid today....

I scrubbed brushed and sanded mine up real nice and oiled it but after 10 days straight in the water it looks like crap again . I really want the fiberglass swim deck off of a newer V210.

been a while since mstoked posted, but I'll tell you the setup on my 230 and ride goofy as well.

1100 in the corner, 350 lbs of lead tucked behind the gunnel right in front of the bag. 500 in locker, 750 in walkway. 300 lbs lead under front seat on the right. I move another 300-400 lbs of lead from under observer/ski storage seat to right in front of cooler/behind captains chair.

takes a lot of weight in the corner and a lot of weight up front. stoked needs a tad more, but you know you're there when 60/40 rear to front and the rubrail is in the water.
