2015 Moomba Mojo

5 Attachment(s)
Here's some pics, just released. Specs are 23 feet, 100 inch beam, Standard 400HP 6.2L Ford Raptor engine, deeper, 2K ballast standard with option for surf edition with 2500 lbs, and an all-new performance based hull. Looks freaking sick.

What does a 2014 cost?... and/or any idea with the price tag will look like for 2015?

Beautiful boat

Rusty 08-01-2014 11:08 AM

I haven't heard anything about much of a price increase for the 2015's over the 2014's. Which is awesome considering it's now standard with a 400HP 6.2L Raptor engine, I could be wrong though.

Jwredmon101 08-01-2014 11:43 AM

little over 2k price increase standard from the 2014 to the 2015 from a link I saw

v10rider 08-01-2014 12:16 PM

Wow, looks impressive

you_da_man 08-01-2014 12:39 PM

Nice interior. I've yet to see a good video of a Mojo with a rider and good surf wave (not that it doesn't surf).

allzway 08-01-2014 12:58 PM

Looks like a real nice improvement on the interior. Good looking boat.

tyler97217 08-01-2014 1:20 PM

Not bad! I have not been a moomba fan, but this is not bad at all!

What's the word on the street about fuel consumption on new Ford motor?

hatepain 08-02-2014 4:28 PM

Looks damn nice! I'd run one.

OneCent 08-03-2014 2:30 AM

The Tower looks way better then the last one... one thing i don't like at the moombas, the surf system is manuell. I don't care about underwater lights, 3 remote stereo controls or other bling bling... but everything that has to do with the wake should be top notch and controlled by a button.

2000lbs standard ballast.. impressiv.

Great looking package. Looks like a real alternative for the "don't like touch screen" crowd

Jmorlan 08-03-2014 1:16 PM

Might have to write me down for one of these in the next year or 2.
I've been really into the v226.
But for the ballpark price range, the interior in the moomba looks worlds ahead, and it is surf system equipped, manual yes, but is still equipped.
Very interested.

Well if that's your preference, spend the extra coin and go for the Supra instead. It's a value priced boat with good options, but nothing over the top to make the price really high.
The design of the flow is a really simple one and doesn't add much cost to the build, but does add a lot in value to what you get out of the boat.
They are competing in the same market place as Axis with Surfgate though, and it's my thinking that they would want to have an automated option for the flow for that reason. Perhaps they'll start putting a version of the Swell on it somewhere down the line.

Jmorlan 08-03-2014 1:59 PM

Imo the trade off is in the boat itself.
With this boat you are getting much more boat imo, a much nicer boat itself.
The only thing axis has going for it is the surf gate.
They look cheap, interior feels cheap.
I'd take a better boat with a manual surf system any day.
Just my 2 cents.

DatTexasBoy 08-03-2014 2:41 PM

So JMo your telling me that the flow system doesn't look like something a third grader designed and threw it on a 65 k boat. I'll pass on that note. The rest of the boat is nice. Yeah Axis boats are cheap with a bunch of plastic everywhere, I wouldn't buy one either.

Jmorlan 08-03-2014 2:45 PM

I'm not debating that one bit. Surf gate definitely wins in the aesthetics category.
The flow system isn't very pleasing looks wise. But it works.
I'm just saying, I'd rather have something nice, wrapped in a ****ty box.
Than something ****ty, with pretty wrapping.
Boat for boat, I think this will be a force to reckon with, in axis territory.

DatTexasBoy 08-03-2014 2:50 PM

Agreed but unless they changed the running surface it will be a one trick pony again. Surf only.

rickt 08-03-2014 3:36 PM

Mojo

DAT,

The New Mojo is complete retool from the bottom up. With the focus being on Wake and Surf, both. Give it a try, we think you will like it.

DatTexasBoy 08-03-2014 3:45 PM

Rick sounds good I have a bunch of friends in the Houston area that Rep Skiers Choice well. I'm sure I can catch a ride on one. They do look nice, great improvement with the new tower.

dezul 08-03-2014 4:29 PM

I will be honest. Till a boat comes out with an affordable brand that can surf and produce a wake like the axis with the ability to switch over from both sports of surfing and wakeboarding, then I will look at it. This moomba looks great but the Axis puts out a great wake that makes it hard to beat.

MCObray 08-03-2014 5:37 PM

This boat would look good "naked". Skiers Choice stepping it up for sure!

There is a company called mb that has a 2015 model or three that may meet all the criteria.

CHern5972 08-04-2014 3:35 AM

Tim,
I believe the wake on the mojo is comparible when weighted correctly. I run to 1100 lb bags in the rearlockers, the center tank and the bow at about 500 lbs.
65% on each rear bag
Center Tank Full
500 Bow and most of time i have 8-9 people in the4 boat. Ill say this, the boat is finiky about weight distribution. Get the people seated right and the wake is killer.
Now for the surf....
It has a push and its big but its not real lippy. The Mojo loves weight, allot of it and handles great weighted down.

Fixable 08-04-2014 6:12 AM

My Buddy just bought a 14 Mondo last weekend, and at first, I was very amazed at how much Moomba improved over the last few years....... However, after spending 10 to 15 hours on it, my opinion went right back to the same as before. So many oversights on the "little things". To me, it seems they spent more time trying to look like a better boat, rather than being one. (Lipstick on a pig, sort of thing)

With that being said........ This boat was 60k, and I felt that it was a great boat, for the money.

patrick232 08-04-2014 6:22 AM

SC and Moomba are making the right steps at the price point that is below the others. I was tied up the the Masterbash at Norris Lake this weekend hosted by Cincy Mastercraft. I was surprised by how many of the Mastercraft customers loved my boat and surprised by the price. The guy next to be had a new X30 and was saying he could have bought 2 Mondo's for the cost of his X-30 and would not have to tow back and forth, leave one at Norris and one is Cincy.

We have put over 45 hours on our Mondo since April and only one minor transducer issue. All other nit picky stuff is being corrected at the end of the season. I think every new boat has issues.

matt75 08-04-2014 8:17 AM

I'd like to see the redesign and the wake. I've seen posts that the Mojo wake can be a little finicky below 24mph and tough to clean up. I'd also like to see the price.
PHATHOM- it's tough for me to say any these boats are 'value' boats. Prices have climbed through the roof in the last 3-4 years.

polarbill 08-04-2014 8:39 AM

I would expect that with the success of the SA and SC hull design all Skier's Choice boats would incorporate a variation of that running surface. If they didn't I am shaking my head.

This is very true. It's ridiculous that a top of the line wake boat used to be what these "value" boats are priced at now. How long until we see "value" boats being priced into 6 digits?

Ya, there's more bells and whistles now, but not 2x the cost bells and whistles.

That being said, if I ever won the lottery or an unknown rich uncle dies and leaves me his fortune, you'd be seeing me drop as much as a modest house on a G25...

polarbill 08-04-2014 11:39 AM

If these "budget boats" keep going up in price and getting fancier it may open up another market for the "extreme budget" buyer. Bayliner quality with a vdrive and other basics (triple ballast(maybe bags), cruise, tower, racks, trailer, etc. for 40k.

Is there even any boats in this range anymore? Can you get an A20, R20, Sanger V215 or any other boat for that price with those basic options?

DatTexasBoy 08-04-2014 2:18 PM

No 40k new boats really.

Here are two more photos of the new Mojo. Not the greatest angles... This is a larger boat basically in all aspects. Pictures were also taken with stock ballast and 3 people in the boat. As stated above this is not the same hull design as last years boat. I immediately noticed that this is an even better surf boat out of the factory than previously. I'm interested to see what this boat will do loaded with weight. Hopefully I can post photos of that soon.

macca 08-05-2014 1:20 AM

So does the new Mojo come with the S bend tower? this thread has pics of both....

CHern5972 08-05-2014 3:18 AM

I think it is an option. I tried to get one on my 2012 Mojo and SC said no... Now look. I think it looks allot better imo

Supravol22 08-05-2014 9:08 AM

I believe the OZ HD is standard and the S-Bend is an option

Here's a little sneak peek of the new mojo wake. Huge, clean, and can take as much weight as that new Raptor motor can handle (which is a ton). Very similar wake to the Supra SA and SC.

I'm guessing that's a figure of speech and not saying that it can only handle the stock ballast of 2k and not the upgraded 2.5k.

The wakeboard wake looks good from that pic. Any not dramatic shots of it?

I'm a little bit confused at what led you to think that's what I meant? I was trying to say that the motor is a beast and can pull much much more than stock weight, and the wake will stay clean no matter how much weight is in it. Sorry, that's the only picture I have for now but be on the lookout for more stuff coming from Moomba shortly.

There are PnP bags in the back and a hard tank that overflows into a bag up front, which is a nice upgrade from the previous model.

I like a lot about the moomba. Great solid boat. I would like to ride the mojo to see how it compares to my Axis wake.

rdlangston13 08-09-2014 6:14 AM

Well supposedly one of the things they focused on with the new hull was decreasing side to side weight sensitivity and cleaning the wake of a slower speeds for all levels of riders so I am pretty excited to see how they really perform.

CHern5972 08-09-2014 6:49 AM

I sure hope so David. Mine is sensitive but, once you get it dialed in... Its killer. Id like to see the surf gate on the boat to see if it will make a more lippy surf.

Moomba Flow?

CHern5972 08-09-2014 10:42 AM

Not to sold on the flow as of yet. Wandering whatit woould do with a gate system

rdlangston13 08-09-2014 2:01 PM

What doesn't sell you on the FLOW? It is basically a manual NSS.

Bamabonners 08-09-2014 2:03 PM

I think they NAILED it. good looking boat.

that black metallic looks sweet too.

CHern5972 08-10-2014 7:00 AM

David, its a tab that is pulled out and serves for opposite side. Not sure if it is worth the $$$$
The nss and flow are similar but i havent been sold on the system.

It doesn't work as good as NSS. You still have to list the boat to get a clean surf wake.

jps120 08-10-2014 9:09 AM

on the older hull you had to list to get a good wave on the goofy side, but the regular side has an awesome wave when weighted evenly. but that is the 12' thru 14' hull don't know what the new hull will do with the flow

^^^^^well sorry to tell you but all the boats with surf systems (Surfgate, NSS, Flow, Swell) you get the best wave when you slightly list the boat to the surf side.

So it's not a rumor.

Got two friends with Mondo's, and we surf them all the time. They would both LOVE to hear how you did that. No matter how we have them set up, the lip is dirty, unless we put a little more weight on the surf side. Not a lot more, but about 20% more to surf port, and 30-40% more to surf starboard.

They work fine with just stock ballast, but those tabs lack the needed surface area, if the boats are loaded up at all.

You should probably read his statement again. Did it say the best wave?
I think it said a clean wave .. Not arguing that you might or have goten a better wave by slightly listing it.. But CANT get a clean wave with out doing so is a rumor . Read the OPS post before you decide to go all keyboard warrior on me.

Tell your 2 friends to go to the moomba forums and do a search . Thats what I did when I figured it out. They have videos and everything to back up my statements. Ive ran the mondo with 3100 pounds with FLOW.. stock is 1300.

Oh your right. Neglected the fine details. However I promise you there is not a boat one on the market where one side cleans up without weight and one side will not without a little weight added on the surf side do to prop rotation. So again I'm sorry, but you may be the one spreading rumors.

And if you will read his full statement he said that NSS will do it .. so now your saying that no boat will... hmmm interesting. I surf port and I dont have to list it for the wave to be CLEAN with the FLOW deployed. OP only said clean wave he didnt say on which side or prop rotation or any of that sorts. He only stated that NSS he doesnt have to list and that flow wont get a clean wake without listing. I think your missing something?

My friend has a Supra SC with the Swell System and it's the dirtiest wave I've ever seen in a v-drive boat. Even he is disappointed but he's a Supra loyalist even though he asked about the Malibus and my A24 (which he raves about the wave and he still got the SC instead). I cant see how the Moomba Flow System can make a really clean, large wave evenly weighted. Not saying it can't be done but the couple videos online of regular people (not a dealer video) with the Mojo or Mondo are dirty waves.

501s 08-11-2014 9:53 AM

We are hoping to demo the new Mojo this week or next with the new Flow system. We are planning to bring lots of extra weight too. Pics and vids of the wake and wave will follow. They will be unbiased, actual pics not a dealer video. The 2012-2014 Mojo can make an excellent wave on either side when listed, but we haven't tried the Flow system on one yet to see what it's like evenly weighted.

If listing a boat will make a better wave, than won't most people just do this anyways?

JohnAr 08-11-2014 9:58 AM

Lamest arguments ever -- relating other boats to this brand new hull? Bitching and moaning about whether even weighting gives the absolute best wave? Who the fk cares? You have to stop the boat to switch sides anyway, just shift the weight! What's it take, 2 minutes to transfer? Takes longer to get a rider in the water and set up. Yawn... Look, surf-gate and other instant-switchers are cool but I haven't heard them described as the "perfect wave" without weight bias either.

I'm excited that Skiers re-did a two-year-old hull to stay competitive, and is keeping the price within the grasp of working class people. Not sure if my next upgrade will be Mojo, maybe a used G23, or maybe try to run down an A24 -- but Moomba is definitely back in the game. Also looking for detains on the new Supra SE!

JohnAr 08-11-2014 10:00 AM

L W -- what would be cool is some good video footage. Pictures are easy to bias with perspective or "that perfect shot" but good gopro or equiv video tells a better tale, I think!
