I've got an X-Star 2004 with the OEM setup for the Wakeboard Pro in the X-Pod. Since all the gauges have nice red backlighting when running the nav lights, the white backlight of the Wakeboard Pro not only looks horrible, but also ruins my night vision.

Does anyone know if the backlight intensity can be reduced (and if so, how do you do it), and/or can the backlighting be changed to red? As an alternative, I've considered putting a toggle switch on the dash to be able to turn the backlighting off completely, so if anyone knows which wire controls the backlight this might also be helpful.

Thanks in advance for any info or help...
should be able to hook up a potentiometer/variable resistor with the right resistance and power rating to dim it. Email PP and ask them if there is a seperate wire for just the backlighting, i cant remember from my install.

Bob - thanks for the info. It just hit me that I have a spare switch on the dash for a second set of tower lights that I don't have, so maybe I can just wire thru that...

there is no external wire for the backlighting - it's just always on. just put some of that red brake light repair tape over the screen.
