New toy... Malibu VLX '06

Hey everyone, my friend recently purchased a '06 VLX. We've taken it out a few times and had a couple of questions pop up. Were not new to boating, but new to this set up...
1) Stock ballast gauges sometimes dont show "full" even when the fill pump is over flowing?
2) The Power Wedge seems to only work with the boat in gear @ idle? Finicky operation at best.
3) Anybody have experience with the extreme trailer? Safe to "auto load"? So far, we're sketched out about it and just floating it on...
4) Any other tricks or tips with this set-up? Would be much appreciated so we can get the most out of the boat. Thanks!

1. My buddies 07 guages did the same thing sometimes. He never bothered since we always ran em full.
2. Sorry. I dont know
3. He had exreme trailer, would power the boat on till roller hit, then wed drive out and connect winch in parking lot while wiping down. This causes some front damage to gel over time. I do this on my new boat but have put on thick clear vinyl to protect the gel coat. So far the vinyl has held up and i will be replacing it shortly with a little bit thicker vinyl.
4. He had a great wake and his setup was something like this. Stock hard tanks with bow tank (1250), 400s piggybacked in rear lockers, approx 800 lead in bow and 200 lead in cabin with one bag on floor to adjust wake. I know he had more lead, about 500 lbs but cant remember where. Approx 3500 lbs, balanced 50/50 front and back, no wedge, great wake.

1. my 05 VLX guages do the same thing. I just go tell they over flow.
2. Not sure
3. good to power load.
4. Might want to switch the prop if you still have the stock one on. I went with the acme 1235, helps get out of the hole and i get better gas mileage with it. Top speed went down a little but not much.

More likely to get the specific answers you need as it is a Malibu-specific site.

I have a power wedge on my 2011 VLX and you have to be moving forward to bring the power wedge up. This is a safety feature. Malibu thought that no one would be in the water when the boat was moving forward so that they could not get caught in the wedge when coming up

No doubt!! That is nice. I do even like the bit of Pink on the bottom and front top. Ladies will flock like the salmon of Capistrano!
