i was just wondering whats the best v drive boat with a good clean mellow ramp of a wake with a good lip for liptricks and getting pop off of on a wakeskate. my friend has the malibu vlx '06 but thats so expensive i need something a little cheaper but good for skating

Best boat for wakeskating that I've seen so far is my '91 Malibu 215 Mystere. It has a very very clean wake with or without ballast. No mush, no whitecapping, nothing but a smooth, well shaped watery ramp. The lip is just right, not too round or fat, but well defined and crisp. The wake is not only perfect for lip tricks, but also for anything done wake to wake. This boat is also very good for wakeboarding, especially when weighted down. However, it's no V-drive. But I can live with that, especially when considering the low prices for these boats. They're hard to find though.

1989 nautique 2001 model also throw an awesome wake. The boat isnt too wide but the hull sits real deep so it has an awesome lip.

Nauti 2001 is an awesome wake, I got a pull from a guy once and the wake was clean and lippy even at slow speeds. I was surprised how big the wake was unweighted too

I really like the vlx for skatin but the moomba XLV is sick too, rode the new byerly skate behind the boat for the first time and I've got nothing but good things to say about that too. The old 2001 model nautiques are cool, but I like big wake riding.

Two of my personal favorites are the Mobius LSV and Supra 20SSV

I find my Mobius LS to be a great boat for wakeskating with stock ballast.

I want to revive this thread and see if I can get some help on picking a new boat. I just sold my RZ2 and am looking for a boat that will get used mostly for wakeskating at about 16 mph. Most boats, especially V-Drives seem to have pretty washed out wakes until you get around 18-20 mph. My bud has a 2001 Malibu Wakesetter inboard that I ride behind and it has a fantastic wake, even down at 14mph where my youngest rides. <BR> <BR>I wanted to know what boats others have wakeskated behind that have clean wakes down at about 16mph.

Just a question, why are you only going to wakeskate at 16 mph?

Caleb, because its'his youngest kid riding. MonsterTower....I cant's speak for that speed, but I know that a Centurion Avalanche has a nice wake at 18-20...

I've never really rode down that far, but i'm sure simple things like shortening the rope a great deal should help.

the nautique 210 team edition is a nice boat too. Not a fan of the bigger newer nautiques though doesnt have the same lip as the slightly older 210's.

I ride normally at about 18-20 but have sons and a wife that like to ride slower. The wakesetter is impressive as it's clean from about 14 up. Probably slower than most people ride so may have a hard time finding people that know what their wake looks like at "sissy speed". <BR> <BR>Ironically my 23' SeaFox fishing boat has a fantastic wake for skating, just nearly impossible to hold speed with the outboard.

Thats understandable, there's pictures of Ryan Lemons boat floating around here and it's just a jon boat with a tower, lol. <BR> <BR>Probably a crossover boat with alot of weight in the front would do it for you. Like a Moomba LSV with a sack in the front and the rope around 55'

Why would you want the rope at 55' on a LSV????

I took out an 07 X15 from the shop yesterday and put 300 in each rear locker, 600 on the floor and 450 in the walkway and rode at 70 at 23.7 and it was one of the nicest wakes ever!!! Really really steep and super clean. Was really surprised for such a wide boat. I usually prefer 210's and x-1's but I have a new favorite.

Bought a new ride! <BR> <BR>Tige has always been great to work with providing Monster Tower marketing boats. Started with a 22V, then 24V, then RZ2. All have been amazing boats. <BR> <BR>I really loved the 24V so I got the new 24Ve and love it. Forgot how roomy the boat feels. I did not want to wait to have them build one so I got one that is all factory. Just got hooked up by WetSounds with a DoubleUp tower speaker package and am stoked to hear them. <BR> <BR>I dont know why I thought I was skating around 16 but speedometer is dead on with handheld GPS and I run at around 20. The wake is perfect for me at that speed. Just starting to mess around with weight placement but even unloaded its great so I'm sure it is going to get better with weight.

If I was buying a new boat to wakeskate behind it would be an aluminum one with a 40HP motor. Small light and cheap gas.

hows the wake on a 196 ski nautique. i know its made for small wakes but at twenty its not too bad.
