Canon Porn

I was taking some gear pics for insurance reasons so here are some of my favorites...

500 f4, 2X extender, 100-400, 70-200 2.8 IS, 24-70.

My wish list includes a 300mm f2.8 and a 100mm 2.8L Macro. I never got $700 ultra light Gitzo tripods until I carried my $150 Monfrotto about 7 or 8 miles this weekend. A Gitzo tripod is on my radar now.

Nice kit Joe. I'm drooling over the 500. I was saving up for the 300 2.8 & was about half way there but pulled the trigger on the 7D instead, now I'm bact to starting from scratch:(. But it's all good, loving the 7. Have you checked out Benro CF tripods, pretty nice stuff and a lot cheeper then the Gitzo's.

Randy- Thanks, I'll check into the Benfro. I want something that is not more than about 17" when folded. I walk some long distances carrying a Tamrac Expedition 4X and I want the tripod to not stick up much higher than the pack. It is a WHIP carrying a Monfroto that folds to about 27" with head. I think it got caught on every brush, vine and tree I walked near. Luckily, I only use the 500 with a monopod. A lot of pro bird photographers use a large Gitzos with Winberly head- those tripod rigs run $1500+ so I'll stick with the monopod!

1D M4 with the 500.... this was shot the first day I got the 500. This is straight out of the camera (if I remember correctly).

Rob - You don't just ease into any hobbies do you?! Holy cow Dude...nice set of gear you got there! I'm jealous with my kit lens and 70-200 f/4.

Thanks Rob, I feel better about all the cash I drop on this stuff after reading your post. All I got is the 500's predecessor the f4.5L. It's very sharp but much harder to use without IS.

Rich- great shots man!!! The IS on the 500 f4 is pretty solid. It makes a big difference at that focal length. I need to get those camo skins on my 500- it would probably be easier trying to get birds in close without pointing a big white anti-tank weapons lens at them!!!

Sorry guys, but mine is bigger than yours. I would post a pic here, but it's a family site. ;-p
