First 1260 on Cable

Local grommie Matty Hasler has just landed a 1260!! (not to mention 3 different vartiations of 1080's in a row) We think his 1260 may be the first EVER on the cable!

reallly dirtty what cable is that ???

woawake 04-03-2010 8:02 AM

That is cable Ski Carins up in Queensland, Australia. Sooo sick, congrats Matty!

dave23 04-03-2010 8:03 AM

It looks like he got almost a full 180 in before leaving the ramp. Still dope as hell.

sidekicknicholas 04-03-2010 10:08 AM

^ I'm glad you said it first.... I agree
that was super sick, it would suck to be that kid in the water.... nothing worse than eating ****, then seeing someone stomp that ****.

kyle_L 04-03-2010 10:53 AM

The pre spin is just part of cable riding, it is still a 12 in my book and he BARELY spun off the kicker. If you think about it to get the right pop you kind of have to start initiating the trick you are doing off of the kicker. If you are doing something inverted, its not like you are going to wait till your board is completely in the air to throw the trick. Very sick rider you guys are brewin' up at that cable.

kyle_L 04-03-2010 11:15 AM

and if he did a 180, then he did a 180 to switch blind 1080 which is still insane

FreeRider209 04-03-2010 11:47 AM

Just look at any snow boarder carve off the lip of a kicker. Its no different. Props for someone taking the sport to a new level.

ColoRadDude 04-03-2010 12:15 PM

I agree, that's sick!

rmcronin 04-03-2010 4:56 PM

What?????? Total sickness!

captain_vilfo 04-03-2010 9:47 PM

lol barely spun? pause it right when he gets to the top of the lip.... he already spun a complete 180. Still very sick and by no means am I trying to minimize his accomplishment.

Also how have I not heard more of this guy if hes stomping three different kinds of 10's in a row and now a 12?!?

benjaminp 04-04-2010 7:53 AM

Somebody get that kid a soda pop! That was siiiiiiiick.

He was mentioned here a little while ago when he did the first all handlepass backside 10 on cable.

boomshot 04-04-2010 10:18 AM

He spun to 180, maybe even more, up the kicker. So as usual with cable "glory moments", this is not legit.

scbrips 04-04-2010 11:15 AM

Word. That quasi 1260 looked so easy. Cable "wake" boarding isn't even a real sport. They can't even do double ups.

waterdork88 04-04-2010 11:17 AM

I could understand arguing the 180, but more? That is clearly not a frontside 900. And to say its not legit (whether he did the 180 or not) is pretty lame on your part, considering you dont have any footage of yourself doing a fs 12 or bs 10.

kyle_L 04-04-2010 11:28 AM

the person who put it best is saying snowboarders edge off a kicker with rotation and that is never argued to be a 12 vs a 10. This is a 12 and a sick one at that. The kid made it look easy.

stephisto47 04-04-2010 11:54 AM

Kyle, yes, a snowboarder carves off the top of the ramp, but he doesn't start that until the VERY tip of the ramp. You'll never see a snowboarder butter slide a 180 and then spin another 900 or 1080 degrees the same way. That's how they pop of ramps and kickers.

Hasler waited until he popped off the kicker for the back 10 that he did and it was sick. I'm sure he could do the 12 without cheating it as well. Until then though, I'm gonna have to side with everyone else on this.

And SCBrips, how is cable riding not a real sport? Way to be supportive of our growing sport...

captain_vilfo 04-04-2010 11:55 AM

Snowboarders definitely dont spin as much as that off of kickers, its more of a carve at the lip to initiate their spin instead of a full blown 180 while sliding up the middle of the ramp. Then again when you got sharp edges that'll catch if you go more than 90 degrees before you take off its easy to understand why lol

scbrips 04-04-2010 11:59 AM

Stevo, I forgot to add these to my post:

Code:

< I'm really serious and like to hate on cable > < /not sarcasm at all >

kyle_L 04-04-2010 2:08 PM

A snowboarder will carve from one end of the kicker to the other to initiate the spin. No he doesn't spin a 180 on the kicker but he has just as much momentum as a wakeboarder starting his spin early on the kicker. It is just part of cable riding. On cable thats a 12, end of story. It is accepted to cheat a little off of the kicker. When I do a pete off a kicker, I am definitely cheating the spin a little bit but not on purpose, it is just to get the right pop, but I am not doing a 180 to switch method roll to blind, its a pete rose.

Very nice!

blakehess1 04-05-2010 8:33 PM

so many good riders in OZ we don't hear about!

sideswipeproductions 04-05-2010 8:51 PM

The internet comes through with the goods again. Imagine if he wasn't wearing a vest.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Perfect.

What's up Josh? I finally checked out Canvas a while back. It was sick! Very well put together. Can't wait to see the new one. Congrats on all your success, BTW.

silentknight04 04-06-2010 10:05 AM

ya that was awsome!!

thedoubleupkid 04-06-2010 10:27 AM

that was a 10

georgi 04-06-2010 9:33 PM

Some of you guys just hate everything somebody else is doing, do you? Its just not compatible with the "I am the best" attitude...

cheesydog 04-06-2010 9:49 PM

kyle is right on the money, kicker cable tricks require different timing to wake tricks, I do the same on the pete at cable, spin about 90 coming off the top.

Matty Hassler is a crazy good rider, and Im sure he will tweak the 12 and cut down on the prespin given some time. Any way u look at it though, its a bloody awesome trick

The truth has some strange hate to cable riders, guess he tried it once and got laughed at?
