Anybody here learned 180 HS without being able to do a wake to wake jump riding switch? Most places tell you that it;s prerequisite for the 180 is to ride switch well, I can land HS 180 1W but I can't land the 2W.My switch riding is pretty sloppy, i can land like 1 wake half cabs .
Thanks

Good question. Should you at least know how to do a 1wake HS 180 to switch?

Here's where I'm at. I can do all four of my one wake frontside 180s. I can jump W2W regular heelside and toeside. I can't do any W2W jumps switch. I can do a W2W TS180 (to heelside switch) and I'm getting darn close to W2W HS 180 (to toeside switch) -- I just gotta get over my toes a bit more. I think the more you can do switch, the better.

My b/f learned toeside W2W 180 BEFORE he even learned a TS W2W! To each their own, I guess.

PS I just re-read my post and it sounds like a foreign language. Hopefully to another rider it makes sense.

I learned the H/S wake to wake 180 before I could throw a single half cab. I still have trouble throwing w2w half cabs and can throw my H/S 180 w/ nose grabs huge and out into the flats.

I think that doing 180's going outside the wake is a good way to learn. The thing that helped me the most with this trick was watching my toes on the landings. Watching your toes will help to keep you from leaning too far back.

you can definitely land hs 180s regular before doing switch hs/ts jumps. i'm sure the majority of folks that do backrolls and tantrums *still* can't do a decent switch hs jump.

and lizrd, your boyfriend is not unusual - i have a friend who almost never lands ts jumps, he always lands switch. it's easier since you're landing facing the boat and hs. it's also why many folks find the ts 5 easier than the ts 3.

(Message edited by deepstructure on October 09, 2005)
