21 foot well craft excell. 96' long and narrow. I have allways riden at about 60'. I have a bullet line now and tryed 65' today, but it was all washed out. Moving people around, side to side, did nothing. I ride at about 22mph. WIll TRIM change this?

Trim makes all the difference in an I/O, I usually run right it in the middle. If its still washed out you need some weight up front, in the boat...start with the cooler then move people up there till its good.

Agree with Bob, I added a Foil to my boat this year and made a huge difference. Highly recommend it.

epic1 <BR> <BR>I usually run my i/o about 19 mph, 21 just washes the wake out to much, I try to run it at a point right before it falls of plane. <BR> <BR>I have an 18 1/2 VIP with about 400lbs in it and the wake is not washed out at 60' with a tower, which is probably about 52 from the back of the boat. I have my extra weight from mid to front-none on the back.

The foils are mounted right above the prop. They help you maintain speed and keep the boat on plane. I trim it up about a quarter of the way or until the wake cleans up. Just watch, trimming to high will make holding speed really difficult as if it's not hard enough as is in an I/O.

We ride at about 20-22 mph and at either 65ft or 70ft depending on how we feel that day.

Yeah the link JMB posted has the foil I used. I bought the Sting Ray XPI at Academy for just under $50. Was very easy to install, the only thing is that I had to take my prop off to drill the two front holes. I couldn't drill from the top on those because of a fin on the outdrive. Just be sure and take your time lining everything up. My wake was already clean, but it made it bigger and more firm. I run a 440 bag in the bow, and depending on how many people in the boat a 440 somewhere else. My wake now is best around 22mph, but was still good at 20. It plains much quicker also. <BR> <BR>Also, my trim guage doesn't work, but usually bump the trim tab about 3 times (about one second per "bump"), I think that's roughly 1/4 up. hey colorado...tell me whats makes ur wake nice because I have the same boat and am still playing with it. I have trim tabs which make the boat stable and plain better but not sure if its messing up the wake. I have about a 5.7L with a high five prop. I run about 500 pounds and on the norm 5 people and I still cant get a wake thats not washed. Thinking about buying three bags can I can put at least 1200lbs more in the boat <BR> <BR>I dont think I can do 19mph and stay on plain. I have been running about 21 though.

the shape of my wake is nice and rampy. with only three peeps, it is almost knee high(I am 6 foot) had six yesterday, and it was over knee. only washes a little. I have a sweet spot at about 65' with handel. further out than that and it washes out bad...

I have a 18ft sea ray with a 560lb bag in front walkway, 750 in back on floor, a hydrofoil (which is well worht the $50 it cost me), and a four blade prop which made a hug difference and at 70 ft from the tower the wake is really good at about 21mph for an I/O.

colorado...what are you doing to your boat to make it like that and what size motor do you have?
