Storing gear for the winter?
Every year I take everything out of the boat before storing it for the winter. Life jackets, ballast bags, pumps, ropes, etc.....everything. Now I'm wondering why? seemed to be the organized thing to do and in the spring I can clean the boat and not have to worry about taking all this stuff out but now I'm just getting lazy I think. The boat is stored indoors but not heated. What do you guys do and why?

Take the gear and store it inside. I take basically everything out of the boat before storing in an non heated warehouse. I do this so things do not get stolen and also to get good air circulation in the boat.
|
"circulation"? Would think it would be more damaging during the summer with humidity and such. Winters are dry here. Thought of the "stolen" but I trust the person who stores it very much.

Back it in the garage and plug in the batteries, pull it out next spring and go. Gotta love California.

^^^ true. I dont leave anything outdoors gear wise ever

I pull everything out prior to storage so that I can make sure everything is nice and dry. Then I put it all in rubbermaids and put it all back in the boat. I'd rather not have more stuff to store over the winter when it can just stay in the boat and not have to look at it for 6 months.
|
I pull everything and put it in those rubber maid BFTs (Big F*cking Tubs) and store it for the winter. Come spring I just grab the BFT and put everything back in the boat.

Indoor, unheated storage. I make sure it's dry and I leave it in. It comes out great every spring. No problem.
|
I emptied mine completely. I usually do but this year especially as it went to a dealer on consignment. Now will likely be traded.

Does anyone take there sub, inboat and tower speakers, and amps out for the winter?
|
I pulled my amps and subs one year that I used warehouse public storage. Only because the year prior they had some boats show up missing stuff in the spring.
|
I take everything out, including all the removable seats , leave the stereo and amps, and put it in dry unheated storage with a light bulb in the engine compartment. Only turned on when temp is below 32 for more then a couple days.
