Wow that sucks - thank god for insurance!

wakereviews 05-20-2011 8:31 AM

hopefully insurance doesn't see these pics.

timmyb 05-20-2011 8:45 AM

Dang that sucks! Got any pictures of the surf wave though?:D Looks like he was weighting it for surfing.

wotan 05-20-2011 8:45 AM

That doesn't even make sense. I can't possibly see the cap coming off unless someone left out the rivets when they were assembling it. And that's only like 2000lbs worth of weight? Something else was going on.... They must have added more weight and let the rub-rail dip below the surface in order to capsize.

tn_rider 05-20-2011 9:17 AM

they had that, stock and about 7 or 8 people. im not sure on the whole story though thats just what i was told

Michael 05-20-2011 9:44 AM

My 2 cents.

Why were the bags left in the boat for a week? Anytime Someones boat I know sinks its becasue they leave the bags in. I dont know why it happens but it does.

Who said its a rub rail leak? I bet its a prop seal leak, enough water gets in and boom, rub rails under water.

migs 05-20-2011 10:14 AM

all that just to surf.....
wow.
id just go to the beach. use the boat to wakeboard instead.

tn_rider 05-20-2011 10:27 AM

i should have been more clear in my origional post. when he sent me the pics of the sacks they were just surfing that day they emptied the sacks after every ride. my bad

x3

Michael 05-20-2011 10:34 AM

it still had the weight in it when it capsized though? This is wierd, Besides why would they leave the boat docked with the weight to the rub rail? they were asking to be sunk.

guido 05-20-2011 10:51 AM

Migs nailed it.

jaxfoiler 05-20-2011 11:24 AM

That is strange you said the rub rail came apart. A person that Is part of our boating community sent his boat back to Nautique 2-3-4 times, cant remember exactly, for his rub rail coming apart and leaking tons of water into the boat. Wonder if your boat is a defect like his was

psudy 05-20-2011 11:54 AM

I dont' think there are very good surf waves in TX.

Can't see youtube at work, but short of a hurricane I think you're dealing with 2-4 footers.

Looks like my boat in the first pic.....bet the wave was nice !

New boat on its way or what ?

idaho_hillbilly 05-22-2011 6:21 PM

I can't image what "force" would cause the seem to separate? That sounds like a defect in construction.

I wonder if they were using lead that is kept in the boat? That bag on the back platform looks heavy. :)

tn_rider 05-24-2011 7:16 AM

sorry for the late reply, been busy with work. as far as a new boat im not sure yet. also not sure whats in that bag, i does look hervy though lol
