- - Transmission slipping? (http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=231422)

I was out on the water last night, and after my rider fell, I went down to forward idle, waited for my wash to pass, turned around and accelerated back. When turning and accelerating, it sounded like the transmission slipped. I throttled back right away and tried again and it was fine. I checked the fluid level and it seemed to be up to the full mark. I couldn't smell anything burnt on the fluid, and it looked clean (from the dipstick anyways....I replaced the fluid early last year)

It hasn't happened since then. Could it have been the transmission slipping? Something else I'm not thinking of?

Thanks

Trash
If fluid is good and no other problems could be some weed around your prop causing prop slip.

If you have hit anything with your prop you could have sheared the drive key. I would check it if everything else is OK.

It doesn't sound like it but if you only got it on the turning it could be cavitation, where you turn sharp enough that the prop is able to slip because it is so close to the surface.

If you were power turning, it's probably cavitation. Simply stop power turning.

If his drive key sheared he would have been towed back in.

No, it definitely wasn't power turning. After the rider fell I idled down to wait for the wash to pass, then turned the boat around and accelerated as I straightened out.

I'll chalk it up to an anomaly. I went out last night with the boat loaded with people and it never happened once.

Thanks for the tips guys

Trash
J-Rod
James hit a piece debris at Shasta over Memorial this last week. He drove back in with vibration and we decided to go back into Packers to change the prop. When I accelerated it slipped and I slowed back into the water woundering what happened. Couldn't find anything wrong so we went in and changed it. Damned if the key wasn't sheared in half ! That's why I put it out there.

Mine was doing the same thing on turns.. Ended up being a little low on tranny fluid..
