I've been searching the net high and low trying to find info on what boats have composite stringers and floors versus wood. I'm in limbo on how new (and how much money i wanna spend) and wanna know the "cut off" year that malibu, nautique, mastercraft, supra, etc... went to composite construction.

Supra and Nautique stopped using wood in 92.
|
As I recall, Malibu was 93 for the Response & 96 for everything else.
I think Mastercraft was about that time too, 92 or 93.
|
Sanger still uses encapsulated wood stringers (not sure about floors) and they ride really well.
|
Mastercraft started using fiberglass stringers and floors in late 83. The middle removable piece of the floor behind the dog house was still wood at that point I believe.

All Moombas are fiberglass. You can find Moombas starting in 96' and 97'.

If you ever want to check mine out - you're welcome out anytime. You know I'm on Marion. Also - if you just want to take a look, it's on my lift on the north side of the lake on the peninsula. It's always covered but at least you can get a feel for it. Let's get out sometime before the season is over and you can look over the boat. We were out last night.

I think I will be out Wednesday too but I'm fairly certain we have a full boat as we're sacking it out with ballast and only have room for 4. I'll let you know if that changes.

I think there are some 92 Nautique's that had wood stringers. I thought that 93 was when they were all composite.
|
90's model moombas had wood for floors and stringers. Mid 90's boomerangs I am referring to. Mastercraft 83, Malibu early 90's others I am not sure about.
|
Jeff,
Moombas have been around since 1990, the first year of the Moomba Boomerang It had all wood stringers and a wood floor. Some of the Supra models went to all glass in 1992 by 1997 with the release of the Outback all Skier's Choice boats were wood free. As far as I know.
