Who has used a cushioned ball mount and how did it work?

Me no, but I have thought about it. I use the aluminum locking ball mount from Diversi-Tech and really like it, no cusion with that but it seems to move less than a standard pinned mount.

I have one. It's the best $80 dollars I have spent. Makes towing smoother.

Interesting.... I have never heard of these. Do they act like a surge brake? The receiver has a shock absorber or some play in it when you accelerate or brake?

I have one for my Expedition. Works great. Picked mine up at Cabella's for around $55. They only make them for a straight hitch. They don't make them for the drop hitches as far as I could tell. At least not a 5 inch drop.

I'm also getting one of these this season, tired of the banging on take off. They make them in 2" to 12" drops in 2" increments.

Cabela's has good prices. Probably eliminated 80-90% of that bump I felt when accelerating from a stop. Don't know if it matters but I tow with a Dodge 2500 diesel

I was seriously considering one of these but then I bled my surge brake system and get a lot less banging now. I had a ton of air in my system though from a lack of maintenance over 10 years by the previous owner. I still think it's a good idea and might get one when finances permit but it's not an urgent need now. Before if I let off the throttle it would bang.

I always wondered how well these work. I hate to have the rubber wear out and waste an otherwise good mount. When the rubber breaks down I'd imagine they just bang more. My daily driver/tow pig is lifter with lockers and I've gotten used to pulling out easy, draggin clutch around corners, etc. so keeping the trailer from bangning around just goes with it normal driving technique to keep everything smooth and comfortable. Never bothered me much.

Why not just get one of these anti-rattle lock pins if you don't want to worry about the banging at start/stop. It doesn't matter what kind of tongue or drop you have either: http://www.etrailer.com/tv-demo-soft...ock-25219.aspx
