I am probably in trouble here for posting these, but got these pics from a friend who recently went with his dealer to the Mastercraft fanfair event. He said he wasn't allowed to take photos of this new yacht, but shot um' after the group walked on. <BR> <BR>This baby looks enormous to me.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/650670.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/650671.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/650672.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/650673.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/blush.gif" border=0>

wakereviews 12-09-2008 6:11 AM

yes, I looked... but to spend untold dollars developing a new boat then have some guy post them on the internet when clearly MC did not want it to happen is kind of a s**ty thing to do IMO.

chpthril 12-09-2008 6:19 AM

Hmmm, looking a WHOLE lot like a Chaparral Sunesta Xtreme $.02

stanfield 12-09-2008 6:34 AM

Agreed. Nothing like treating somebody to something special, asking them not to do something, only to have them snap photos and stab you in the back when your back is turned. Total gomer move imo.

illini88 12-09-2008 6:40 AM

Looks like proof to me that MC must be weathering this economic mess pretty well. I have no need for a huge boat like that, but I like what MC is doing here. At a time when others may be forced to conserve resources, MC appears to be looking to roll out more products.

behindtheboat 12-09-2008 7:02 AM

or alienating their old/current customers now that they've sucked all they could from them.

murphy8166 12-09-2008 7:09 AM

This is shocking from an MC fan. Way to ruin the surpirse!!! <BR> <BR>I'm sure our old friend "Ryan" will chime in about his dad already having one on order with a barbwire wrap

marknjenn 12-09-2008 7:10 AM

or they have lots of employees with extra time on their hands.

sidekicknicholas 12-09-2008 7:21 AM

I heard about this the other day.... <BR> <BR>X-300 ... people in Dubai are eating up the X-45 and X-80 and wanted something bigger, this is what come about

salsajs3030 12-09-2008 7:33 AM

Pretty dope -thanks for sharing. <BR>I wonder how much thought (if any) went in to wake itself?? ...think MC engineered a large hull to put out a huge wake? I would have to assume so, but there's got to be a point of diminishing returns.

wakeboardsam 12-09-2008 7:52 AM

Entire magazines are devoted to doing the exact same thing in the car industry. If MC didn't want anyone to see the boat they would not let people around it. Manufacturers love this stuff, it builds a "buzz" about the product.

mendo247 12-09-2008 7:56 AM

hahaha They should have had it under wraps like the automakers do! MC will probablly love all the hype these "leaked" pics develop! Is that even the MC factory? I agree it does look like a bigger Chaparral...

vguy75 12-09-2008 8:00 AM

Agree that MC wants a buzz. <BR> <BR>Why else wouldn't they banned the pics, including additional pics of the prop tunnels, on their site... <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=27997" target="_blank">http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=27997</a>

phenom_1819 12-09-2008 8:12 AM

After reading the post at Teamtalk and seeing how similar it is to the one here, I think Jaak could be right... <BR> <BR>I'm still trying to figure out why MC keeps designing saltwater/open-water boats with picklefork bows... it basically restricts them to being bay boats, which has no interest to me. Other than that, very cool looking IMO... <BR> <BR>To those who asked about the attention to the quality of the wake, I think it's pretty clear that MC was definitely not intending this to be a wakeboat. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by phenom_1819 on December 09, 2008) <BR> <BR>(Message edited by phenom_1819 on December 09, 2008)

c_boarder 12-09-2008 8:17 AM

that looks huge

timmy 12-09-2008 8:27 AM

Considering that most people who would buy a boat like this for salt water only cruise the intracoastal or occasionally the ocean on a really calm day, the deck boat aspect (pickle) is not a bad way to go. <BR> <BR>Also, the luxury deck boat would work great for large lakes and rivers. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by timmy on December 09, 2008)

mctc 12-09-2008 8:47 AM

You can see from the pictures it's not a deck boat, it's a cruiser. There is a cuddy cabin in the front not an open bow. That's why you have steps up both sides to go around the windshield to the front. It will be sweet to see the finished product.

timmy 12-09-2008 8:51 AM

I call all pickle-boats deckboats. That is what they are. This one happens to have a cuddy.

hatepain 12-09-2008 8:54 AM

I was thinking Sunsetta Xtreme too but they would be changing up the bow a bit as this one has no smaller point in between the pickle forks. The free board is what makes it look so massive assuming that guys not a midget.

ncsuuh 12-09-2008 9:02 AM

I am so glad this is out. I have known about it for quite a while. It looks so mean. I don't think anyone is going to truely wakeboard behind it. Imagine what the surf wake will be like after it is sacked out.

psudy 12-09-2008 9:59 AM

I think its a mistake to make it a cutty. Putting a cabin on it only takes away from the interior room. So your 30 ft boat is not really only a 20ft boat because nobody will spend any time below deck.

mctc 12-09-2008 10:15 AM

Paul the boat is meant to be a cruiser, it's going to be 11 feet wide, with a radar arch, navigation package, and room for overnight trips. It's not meant to be a day boat therefore i don't see any other way to build the boat than with a cabin. <BR> <BR>Matt, I don't think you are going to have to sack out this boat for an awesome surf wake. It will be huge!

grant_west 12-09-2008 10:19 AM

Thanks for posting the picks. I dont think its a big deal. I agree If they don't want the public to see somthing Why walk them past it. Do you see the hoops car makers jump threw to hide new car's from the cammera's. Now with that said. If someone taking me for a factory tour asked me Not to take a picture and did it anyways thats a diffrent story. LOL For my enjoyment Im glad you took the pick LOL.

jcush313 12-09-2008 11:28 AM

doesnt MC stamp their name on all of their dock cleats?

davomaddo 12-09-2008 11:33 AM

How many crappers???

srock 12-09-2008 11:33 AM

Pickle fork..humm. To me it's a giant water scoop. Make sure they turn the bow down for maximum scoopage.

woreout 12-09-2008 11:52 AM

I have heard the same thing about Dubai as well. The people in Dubai love the Bling MC brings to the table but just want a bigger boat. So being a leader and not a follower MC is building it, and doing it at a time when lesser MFGs have been shut down for a couple months. <BR>That oughta bring out some MC haters.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/kiss.gif" border=0>

wakeride26 12-09-2008 12:08 PM

I think it will have the same number of CRAPPERS as the small boats.. isn't it the rule of 1 for every cup holder? so like 20.. <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0> Thats the first thing I think about while i'm out for a set. where to go #2......

wakesurf_ohio 12-09-2008 12:49 PM

Hey Josh, <BR>My x2 doesn't have "mastercraft" on the cleats

psudy 12-09-2008 12:50 PM

I see what you are saying Steve, and if there main support from the boat is coming from Dubai(which I doubt. They afford much larger boats)then its a viable option, but I think they will have a lot of people who will buy them for larger lakes here. A thirty foot cutty is not large. They should at least offer both options, cutty and open bow. <BR>Cobalt had the 292, and 293, which were basically the same boat in cutty and open bow configurations. I have the open. I would not trade it for the cutty for anything. The only time I have slept on my boat is when I got stuck in the fog one night(I actually wish it was a cutty then!). The rest of the time I am glad I have the space. <BR> <BR>For the record, I only have one crapper, and I am glad. I dry heav enough emptying it. My policy is if you use it. You empty it.

woreout 12-09-2008 1:22 PM

The Dubai MC dealer sells as many XStars, X45s and X80s they can get. <BR>Dubai is not their "main support" for the boat but it sure helps. No credit approval problems over there.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0> <BR>I agree Paul it will be a nice boat for large lakes and all the coastal waterways here in FL. <BR>I wonder how much $$? YIKES ! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>

I was at the factory yesterday taking the tour and I was respectfull of not taking a picture. <BR> <BR>Let alone posting pictures online!! <BR> <BR>This is downright disrespectful! <BR> <BR>Companies spend untold $$$ trying to launch a new model, they don't need some bannana posted pics he should have taken in the first place!

pierce_bronkite 12-09-2008 2:54 PM

Lol...disrespectful? This happens to a lot of industries, you just have to know where to dig and find them. <BR> <BR>Apple has this happen to them a lot. There were new pictures of their laptops months before they were available for purchase. <BR> <BR>Welcome to the internet. <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/crazy.gif" border=0>

wakeride26 12-09-2008 2:59 PM

WOW........ YOUR SO COOL FOR POSTING THESE.. YOUR NO DIFFERENT THAN THE A** H*** THAT POSTED THE PICS OF THE CORVETTE BOAT BEFORE IT CAME OUT. I give up " Your So Cool"

gti2lo 12-09-2008 3:09 PM

it is since people were asked explicitly not to... <BR> <BR>Not like it was just sitting in a parking lot or something.

rbeckei 12-09-2008 3:13 PM

What is the diff. between boats and cars. In the car industry, manufactures spy on each other. They pay for pictures of new models before they are released. So let it go people its all around use.

joe_crawley 12-09-2008 3:30 PM

I appreciate any boat spy pics I can get

jaybee 12-09-2008 3:33 PM

This is silly. as has been stated, if they wanted it to be so secret, they would not walk the public past it. If this thread had been posted with no pics, and just been called mastercraft is making a 30 ft. boat or whatever, everyone would be asking for pics. i am not saying it was right to post the pics as it is up to mastercraft to decide when they want to unveil the boat but at the end of the day it is so creating a buzz for the boat. I know if I was ready to buy a 30 ft boat I would be all over it and holding out to see how the finished product is.

flux 12-09-2008 3:38 PM

I agree with John. Who has a cell phone these days with no camera?? Maybe they don't want folks in there with SLR's and such but come on. If it was such a secret boat then there would be NO non-employees allowed. <BR> <BR>Nice find, very interesting.

smsbrett 12-09-2008 4:07 PM

I can confirm that boat is real and was at the TN factory. I saw it on a recent fanfare visit. They told us we could take pictures, just asked us NOT to post them online... which is why you guys haven't seen my pics. They even have a mockup made of plywood and foam you can walk through.

prostar19 12-09-2008 4:41 PM

I went through on the tour as well. They said we could take and post any pictures we wanted but did ask us not to post pics of the 300. Said we could take them but don't post them

malibuboats4 12-09-2008 6:14 PM

so chris and brett.... want to post those pictures up to stir the pot some more????

shredder_girl 12-09-2008 7:23 PM

Maybe I am bias but isn't that a little overkill. So Mastercraft now is a wakeboard boat, fishing boat and now a yacht????

polkadottie 12-09-2008 7:53 PM

correct craft tried this type stuff back in the 80's. anyone ever seen the fish nautique?

wakesk8er2 12-09-2008 7:55 PM

That looks to be the case. They've pretty much mastered ski boats and their "fishing" boat actually puts out a nice wake as well. Why not try something new?

malibuboats4 12-09-2008 8:11 PM

mel, whats wrong with a company expanding its market?

grant_west 12-09-2008 9:37 PM

Yea it's not my cup of Tea. I can see more of these boats being sold than the Corvette boat. <BR> <BR>Do you think this boat would compete against cobalt boats.

phenom_1819 12-09-2008 9:43 PM

^^^^G, Yes... Looks like they're taking the Cobalt 323 head-on... <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/650922.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>(Message edited by phenom_1819 on December 09, 2008)

grant_west 12-09-2008 9:51 PM

good luck to them. Cobalts are pretty bad A$$

psudy 12-10-2008 7:53 AM

the only problem I see with them competing with Cobalt, is that I couldn't imagine buying a 30 ft boat that only went 45mph, as most vdrives do. If they can get the top end up, I don't see them having a problem. If they made that when I bought mine, I would have probably gone with the MC.

behindtheboat 12-10-2008 8:10 AM

In another thread someone states that MC actually hired top engineers from Cobalt and other major "yacht" manufacturers in order to build this efficiently and quickly. So they're a success in the marine industry right now. <BR> <BR>If they can apply resources to this, how can they not make a better economy model than the X-1? <BR> <BR>(Message edited by behindtheboat on December 10, 2008)

shredder_girl 12-10-2008 8:11 AM

I would only assume this thing is twin screws. Does anyone know? And Malibu I am not hating on them trying but sometimes being something for everybody sometimes can bite you in the a**.

psudy 12-10-2008 8:13 AM

Yes it was twins.

hatepain 12-10-2008 8:26 AM

I couldn't imagine picking this boat ,being MC's first foray into the pleasure cruiser, over a Cobalt, Sea Ray sport cruisers or Formula (depending on where price point come in). <BR> <BR>Plus you know the radar arch is gonna shake around like a mu**er f**ker <BR> <BR>(Message edited by hatepain on December 10, 2008)

psudy 12-10-2008 8:29 AM

I guess it would depend on the wake. I bet being a vdrive, it would thow a clean(er) wake than my CB, and if I could have both a large boat with a nice wake, I would take it. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by psudy on December 10, 2008)

sidekicknicholas 12-10-2008 9:27 AM

Why would mastercraft care about making a budget boat when they can sell X-stars (~50k more than the same sized moomba) like its nothing.... <BR> <BR>I mean Moomba stays in business making money off their boats.... MC spends 5k extra in bling and sells it for 50k more.... its amazing. <BR>Not bashing, that is seriously amazing....they are making bank and I don't think they care about trying to rope in budget buyers.

wakesk8er2 12-10-2008 9:33 AM

Nick is right. Why make a budget boat when people are lining up to buy what you already have that doesn't cut any corners. If I were in the market for a boat like this, I would for sure take a look at the MC. It will be top notch for sure.

behindtheboat 12-10-2008 11:24 AM

Why? So I can afford a new MC......... that's why I would want them to. I guess I'll get a Moomba.

phatboypimp 12-10-2008 11:57 AM

Hate-n-Pain - that was funny.

scramison 12-10-2008 12:15 PM

Wow you guys take the bait! <BR> <BR>Of course mastercraft wanted these photos leaked. <BR> <BR>Its like the forbidden fruit they knew someone would give it a taste and bamm they have some good press that didn't cost a dime.

curtisco24 12-10-2008 12:18 PM

they aren't doing as good as everyone thinks. No boat maker in tn. is. They all have had lay offs.

It's rough keeping up with this thread on both forums! The trademark TT veiled sarcasm vs. the humorous overt club swinging here. Often the speculation that fly's around here is FAR more scandalous than the truth. But then again how would we keep ourselves entertained otherwise? <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0>

phenom_1819 12-10-2008 3:50 PM

This "leak" was intentional and they know it... <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/wink.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>After all, what's the chance that two different people on two different websites would post almost the same (OK, identical) pictures at almost the same time. <BR> <BR>Something about MC's strategy smells fishy (no pun intended). Hahaha

phenom_1819 12-10-2008 4:28 PM

In all seriousness though, I think MC is right on with this decision... The boating market is so much bigger than tournament wake and ski boats, and I think there is a market for a high-end smaller express cruiser, and this boat could be nice and/or different enough to put them on the map. <BR> <BR>Penske wanted huge growth out of Mastercraft, I've wondered how they would go about doing it in the ski/wake boat market. Looks like they're not. <BR> <BR>In the high-end small express cruiser market, right now Cobalt owns it. IMO, the others mentioned above are not in the high-end market. <BR> <BR>BTW, the deck hardware looks nice but hopefully they'll either move the cleats closer to the edge of the deck or incorporate some very good bow-chocks for the bow cleats, otherwise the first time that boat is tied up in rough seas it's gonna leave the gel looking like crap and rip-out that railing!!! <BR> <BR>And just in case MC is reading... I think there's a market for a 24' CSX with a traditional bow THAT DOESN'T DROP like the current CSX's do. There is no need for a drop-bow on a center-console boat. Pro'ly would have strongly considered the 22' CSX if the bow didn't drop like it does and had more freeboard, like the 26 CSX... I spend about two-three weeks a year up in BC's Inside Passage, you have to cross straights to get there. Would love to be able to use my boat in the sound, but you can't tow behind a yacht or get stuck in big water with a boat that has a drop-nose and low freeboard. But then again, I won't be buying a boat for at least a couple years, so don't count on me buying one. ;)

xaggie 12-11-2008 8:39 AM

Cal, the Team Talk poster and Jilly are friends. The speculation of "leaks" and so on is addressed very clearly in post Coz links to above. Just because the axiom "any publicity is good publicity" works for Paris Hilton does not mean that holds true for the extremely technically competitive Towboat industry.

chpthril 12-11-2008 9:20 AM

"<i>Just because the axiom "any publicity is good publicity" works for Paris Hilton </i>" <BR> <BR>Like Paris, MC definitely lifted their skirt, and I doubt it was an accident that they were not wearing panties. <BR> <BR>Like already mentioned, if you dont want it seen, dont show it $.02
