I'm currently running 2 Kinetik 2000 batteries for my stereo system. My question is do I have to run a Kinetik battery for my starting battery? My stereo shop says yes for sure. But this would be only true if I ran my switch on all right? What do you guys do? And if this is true what model should I get for my starter battery? thanks

Buy a Perko switch. I have 4 Kinetik's for my stereo, and 1 battery that came with the boat. I was never told to switch out the boat battery. I don't think it matters, I never had a problem with mine.

deez nuts-you have it right. As long as you don't plan on combining them "both" on the perko, you can use any type for starting. Keep in mind to charge separately also

I have 2 Kinetik 2400's for the stereo and a Red Top for starting. It is the same technology, I could parallel all together but I don't. I use a Yandina C150 combiner to connect the stereo bank to the factory charging system. Charging is the only reason anything in the stereo system gets connected to anything in the stock system.

Boat battery systems are very confusing to most installers.

So would a Kinetik starting battery be a good one to go with? Or is their a better choice of starting battery? I never run my switch to all so I'm not concerned getting the same battery.

Nuts,
I just bought an HC1800 for my starting and have a HC2400 for the system, but I have mine connected to a relay, so when the boat is going they are both connected. It was the best amp hour I could find for the money. The optima's have 55 amp hours for around $140 and the HC1800 has 81 amp hours for $179. I just liked having the same type battery so there would be no questions as to working properly. I'm sure there are better starting batteries out there. I wanted something that would help out with the system a little bit also
