P5/DD Carbon fakie fin?

Does anyone know if it is possible to add fakie fin to Danielo Pro Carbon? I see that Towanza sells a P5 fakie fin and says it works with DD. Can you simply order fin and bone, drill holes and your good? Or will it cause to board to take water and delam?

you need to have to order a board with the fin so it is built for it. If you drill yourself you will expose the foam core which will cause it to take on water and delam.

Take a 3/8 forstner bit and carefully drill out two holes with the approximate proper spacing for fin screw holes (centered) from the bottom. You want the fin base to be approximately 1" off (down from) the tip or nose of the board. I do not remember exactly what the P5 fin spacing is, but for that matter you can use any fin (any wakeboard style fin using screw mounts) you want to. I think the spacing is something like 1.5" on center. Anyway, you have two options here for installing the initial fin support holes/plugs. You can drill through the bottom and inner foam just short of the deck or you can drill all the way through the deck. Be careful not to push too hard drilling all the way through. I recommend just drilling to the bottom surface of the deck skin. You will puncture the skin a little bit but this does not matter as you will not see this when finished. Place a strip of masking tape covering the top deck were the hole are. Fill the two 3/8" holes with epoxy from the bottom with the board laying flat on the deck . Once filled and cured, align the fin holes properly over the new 3/8th mount areas, mark the fin screw holes and drill out holes using a large enough bit to fit the provided screws. If you do this properly, you will have a showroom finish that is water tight and allows you to use a fakie fin.
